Law Enforcement Today has been very selective about who we support, be it for political office or whatever. In the past, we have endorsed President-elect Donald Trump, Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.), and very few others. With that said, Law Enforcement Today is endorsing President Trump’s selection of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense. We do so enthusiastically.
It was expected that anyone from outside the Washington, D.C. swamp whom Trump selected to be in his administration would be subject to a smear campaign orchestrated by DC insiders and leftist media. And in the case of Pete Hegseth, they have done exactly that.
Hegseth has been denigrated as merely a “weekend Fox News host” when he is so much more than that. He is an Army veteran who served as a Captain in the National Guard, and served tours of service in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay. He has earned two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He graduated from two Ivy League schools, Princeton and Harvard, the latter where he completed a Masters in Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
During his service overseas, Hegseth was the senior counterinsurgency instructor at the Counterinsurgency Training Center in Kabul, Afghanistan. From 2005 to 2006, he served with the 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division, serving as infantry Platoon Leader in Baghdad in 2005 and as a Civil-Military Operations officer in Samarra in 2006.
The usual “anonymous” sources have smeared Hegseth, yet for those who know him and some who have worked alongside him as colleagues for years, those smears, which we will not give substance to by mentioning them, have been completely debunked.
To show support, over 100 Navy SEALS, a group of true American heroes, are planning a coordinated march in Washington, D.C., to publicly show their support for Hegseth, a demonstration Law Enforcement Today heartily supports.
In a conversation with Fox News host Will Cain, one of those who worked alongside Hegseth for years, Bill Brown, a member of the Navy SEAL Foundation, told Cain that the SEALS have organized and are committed to a march on Washington, D.C. in support of Hegseth.
That demonstration comes as the U.S. Senate prepares to hold hearings on Hegseth’s nomination. The usual Republican squishes, like Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), along with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) have publicly indicated their discomfort with Hegseth’s nomination, which is precisely what those on the left hoped for. In the case of Collins and Ernst, both are up for reelection in 2026. Law Enforcement Today will work tirelessly to advocate for a primary challenger if both vote against Hegseth’s confirmation.
With all of that said, Law Enforcement Today is proud to support Pete Hegseth’s nomination as Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration. Hegseth will make an outstanding Defense Secretary and will restore the military to its intended purpose…kill people and blow things up.

"The usual “anonymous” sources have smeared Hegseth" Yes, and yet Ds with lots of evidence of wrongdoing get away with it. The R's should ALL hang together on Trump's nominees (ALL of them, especially this one) if they don't want to have their defections "remembered" next election. Hegseth is a great pick for this job. We don't need to rob more good ones from current critical jobs, such as gov of FL.
