Louisiana Couple Accused of Leaving 4-Year-Old Who Ate THC Gummy Home to Attend LSU Football Game

SCOTT, LA - Apparently, people in Louisiana take LSU football rather seriously.

The Scott Police Department announced that a couple left their 4-year-old child home after he ate a THC gummy and attended a college football game between LSU and Louisiana Tech in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, WSB-TV 2 reports.

According to the police department, Mary Cormier, 36, and David Butts, 34, were aware the child had eaten the gummy; however, they left him in the care of another juvenile and went to root on their team.

Police said the couple returned home about eight hours later and found the child breathing but unresponsive. The child, who was not identified by name or gender, was eventually admitted to an intensive care unit.

The two were charged with second-degree cruelty to juveniles, child desertion, and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, the department said.
