BELLE PLAINE, MN - On Thursday, police in St. Paul, Minnesota sought to arrest a man suspected in a murder Chief Axel Henry called "one of the most cold-blooded things I've ever seen in my life."

As reported by CBS News, St. Paul Police identified a suspect vehicle and were able to get a picture of the driver in the murder of Carrie Marie Kwok on Wednesday which led them to 29-year-old Seantrell Murdock.

Henry told reporters, “The evidence that we have, this was not something that was driven by a conflict or fight or a previous association."

“I’ve never seen anything like that even in a movie. It is awful. Every murder we have in the city is awful they’re all terrible, I don’t want to make a comparison that way, but in that sense, it’s atypical in a way that I just in almost 30 years I’ve never seen.”

Mayor Melvin Carter expressed shock calling it, “One of the most cold-blooded, one of the most brazen acts that I’ve ever seen in this community."

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

At approximately 6:30 a.m. officers saw Murdock exit his house armed with a handgun. As a convicted felon from a burglary in 2014, he was legally barred from owning a firearm.

Henry explained, “At approximately 6:30 [Thursday] morning, prior to us even making any contact with the address, the person that we suspected of this crime exited the house and our officers approached him. That person was armed with a handgun,” he said. Little detail is available as of this report, but the officers shot Murdock in front of his home. He was transported to nearby Hennepin Healthcare where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Chief told reporters that  The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading an investigation into the officer-involved shooting. Both police officers involved have been placed on leave, per standard operating procedure.
