Man shot, crashed into by girlfriend's estranged husband... moments after custody drop-off of little boy

KITSAP, WA - Authorities with the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) said that a man was shot by his girlfriend's estranged husband after the man, who was armed, chased him and crashed into his vehicle following a custody swap.

According to Fox News, the victim, who is 21-years-old, and his girlfriend, 31, were near the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton on Saturday, October 12th, to drop the woman's eight-year-old son off to her 40-year-old husband. The woman dropped her boyfriend off at the fairgrounds before heading over to drop her son off with her husband. After she dropped her son off, she headed back to the fairgrounds to pick her boyfriend back up when her husband, who had followed her back, drove by and shot at the couple.

The pair attempted to drive away, but the husband pursued them and continued to shoot at their vehicle. As the couple was driving on Nels Nelson Road, the husband passed them, made a U-turn, and rammed his vehicle into the victim's vehicle head-on. Police said that after that, the husband and the boyfriend exited their vehicles and began yelling at each other.

That's when, according to police, the husband pulled out a .22 caliber handgun and shot the boyfriend in the abdomen. The wife exited her vehicle and the three of them began fighting in the middle of the street. After the gun was knocked away from the three fighting, a witness at the scene was able to kick the gun away and guard it until police arrived. The husband and boyfriend continued fighting, ending up in a ditch.

Responding police found the boyfriend holding the husband in a headlock in the ditch. The boyfriend was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for treatment and the husband was transported to St. Michael's Medical Center. Neither the woman nor her son were injured during the incident. After being treated, the husband was booked into the Kitsap County Jail for first-degree assault and drive-by-shooting. He is being held without bail.

According to reports, a .22 caliber pistol was recovered from the scene. A loaded .22 caliber pistol magazine was located in the suspect's pocket at the hospital. Two spent .22 caliber shell casings were found in the husband's car and shell casings were also found at the scene. Three witnesses said that they saw what happened as they were watching their kids play soccer at nearby Gordon Fields.

Two females at an Olympic High School dance later said that they also saw part of the incident. One, a mother, said she has a medical background and was going to help, but she drove away out of safety as the fight was going on. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

In a separate incident, an Oak Harbor, Washington, man is facing charges after he allegedly shot and killed a man outside of his home. According to FOX 13, Island County Sheriff's Department (ICSD) deputies responding to the scene of a shooting on October 11th, at around 2:23 p.m. at a residence on Cerullo Drive.
