HOLLY HILL, SC - According to several reports, a private school teacher who is married with two children has been accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teenage football player.
The woman, identified as 27-year-old Reagan Anderson, was arrested on Wednesday, November 15th. She has been charged with two counts of felony sexual battery with a child 17-years of age. If convicted, those charges in the state of South Carolina are punishable with up to five years in prison.
Anderson has been released on a $2,500 bond and has been placed on a GPS monitor. The judge also ordered her to have no contact with the victim or the victim's family.
Prior to her arrest, Anderson was a teacher at the Holly Hill Academy, a private Christian prep school located northwest of Charleston, South Carolina. The arrest warrant states that the alleged sexual assaults took place at a residence on October 22nd and at a Pizza Hut parking lot on October 28th.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) was notified of the alleged scandal on November 8th, after rumors had started passing through the Holly Hill Academy. Anderson no longer works at the school and the administration is cooperating with OCSO during the investigation.
According to reports, students and a coach had noticed a photo of the suspect on the boy's phone as well as Snapchat activity that set off "alarms." Anderson allegedly sent the student nude images on Snapchat. Anderson was arrested within a week of OCSO learning of the case.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a statement, "We began investigating immediately after being notified of these allegations in order to prevent any further inappropriate contact with students. if anyone has any more information, they are asked to get in touch with us."
When confronted by school officials, Anderson reportedly denied the allegations against her. Fox News reported that Head of School Brandy Mullennax sent a letter to parents, that said, in part, "Holly Hill Academy was made aware last week of allegations regarding an inappropriate relationships between a staff member and upper school student. The administration immediately contacted law enforcement."
Mullennax added, "As a small school community, we strive to always provide a safe and secure learning environment for all our students. We cannot comment on this matter further at this time other than to assure you that we will continue to work with law enforcement and provide the needed support for our students and staff as we deal with this situation."
During Anderson's bond hearing on Thursday, November 16th, the mother of the victim blasted the ex-teacher. She said, "A trusted coach, teacher and friend that abused our trust and violated her oath as an educator, and has ruined our son's life. He should be 100 percent focused on being a fun-loving, football-playing young man, but this predator has robbed him of that ability."
Outraged, the mother said, "No young quarterback or athlete is safe in our community if this woman is free." According to the New York Post, Anderson's LinkedIn page shows that she describes herself as "very passionate about children." Her biography states, "I am currently a stay at home mom looking for some at home opportunities to help support my family and I."
The intro section to her Facebook allegedly reads, "Wife | Mama | Jesus" and the page lists her occupation as a third-grade teacher at Holly Hill Academy.
