Hero Maui Police Officer Makes the Ultimate Sacrifice Responding to Shots Fired Call

PAIA, HI- Fox News Digital reports that a Maui police officer was shot and killed Friday while responding to a call reporting someone firing a rifle in the area of an old sugar mill,” police said. The shooting occurred in Paia, located on the northern coast of Maui, the Maui Police Department said in a statement. 

Neither the deceased officer nor the suspect, who was taken into custody, was identified. The only information available about the officer was that she was a female, as indicated by a statement issued by Maui Police Chief John Pelletier, The Maui News reported. 

“Our department is heartbroken,” Pelletier said. “We have lost one of our finest–an officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community. She was a hero, and we will ensure she is honored with the reverence she deserves. Our deepest condolences go out to her family, loved ones, and fellow officers during this time of profound loss.” 

In a statement issued by the department, it read:

“The Maui Police Department is deeply saddened to confirm that earlier this evening, one of our officers was fatally injured in an officer-involved shooting. 

“This is a tragic loss for our department and our community. Out of respect for the officer’s family and loved ones, we are not releasing further details at this time. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available. We ask for the community’s patience and support as we work through this difficult time together.” 

According to the Maui PD, the officer was responding to what was described as a “terroristic” threatening call at approximately 8:26 p.m. local time at the Paʻia Sugar Mill. The caller reported that an unknown person had trespassed on the property and fired a weapon toward them. 

When officers arrived, they were met with gunfire, with the victim officer being struck in the chest. 

“Our officer suffered a round in her chest area. Officers returned fire. The subject was shot in the lower hip area and is in custody,” Pelletier said. 

“She was the finest of us, and we are grateful for her. This is an absolute tragedy. This is a dark day in the history of the Maui Police Department and our community. 

“It’s something that none of us ever expect will happen, although we prepare for it, and it’s just absolutely horrible.”

ENOUGH! These SUBHUMANS who shoot and kill our men and women in Law Enforcement should summarily be brought to trial then Executed immediately! May sound extreme but how's the current system working!
