WASHINGTON, D.C. - Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confessed in a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan that his company was "repeatedly pressured" by the Biden Administration to actively censor and suppress posts, articles, and links pertaining to COVID-19 as well as the Hunter Biden "Laptop from Hell."

As reported by ZeroHedge, Zuckerberg noted that even then the efforts of Facebook weren't enough for the Biden White House which "expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn't agree." The billionaire expressed regret and added that the company should not have compromised its standards "due to pressure from any Administration in either direction."

Sharing the letter, The House Judiciary GOP described the admission as a "Big win for free speech."

Nonetheless, Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski noted in a reply, "This is explosive and damning. In 2021 during Covid, Rumble told the media to pound sand, we told tech companies threatening to cancel us to pound sound, and we did not fold. Glad to be on the right side of history."

Writing for Business Insider, Peter Kafka suggested that "if you take a closer look at what Zuckerberg said, and didn't say, you may come to the conclusion I've reached: that Zuckerberg very carefully gave Jordan just enough to claim a political victory — but without getting Meta in any further trouble while it defends itself against a federal antitrust suit."

Zuckerberg went on to explain that the social network should not have censored the pivotal New York Post exposé that revealed the Hunter Biden laptop after the FBI reportedly warned them "about a potential Russian disinformation operation about the Biden family and Burisma in the lead up to the 2020 election."

He continued, "That fall, when we saw a New York Post story reporting on corruption allegations involving then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s family, we sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while waiting for a reply. It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story."

In the letter, the Meta CEO also addressed the major donations or "Zuck bucks" he made via the Chan Zuckerberg initiative to various election agencies during the 2020 campaign cycle, claiming, "Despite the analyses I've seen showing otherwise, I know that some people believe this work benefitted one party over the other. My goal is to be neutral and not play a role one way or another -- or to even appear to be playing a role. So I don't plan on making a similar contribution this cycle."
