NEW BOSTON, MI - A teenage student was falsely accused of making a terroristic threat by his school, and his life was shattered not because of his actions, but because of a system that "twisted the truth" and rushed to condemn him, according to his mom.

Dillon Reedy was a typical high school student, a first-year student at Huron High School in New Boston, Michigan. That was until his entire world was turned upside down by an overzealous teacher and a criminal justice system run amok.

In a country where illegal immigrants are granted more rights than American citizens, something is dreadfully wrong. Such is the case of Dillon Reedy, who was victimized by what appears to be a corrupt system that rewards criminals while rewarding foreign citizens who are illegally in our country.

On December 8, 2021, Dillon, then 14 years old, was accused by a classroom teacher of making a terroristic threat to “shoot up” the high school, according to Light ‘Em Up,” a criminal justice podcast. Despite the teacher claiming he made what was referred to as a “terroristic threat,” the teacher would later allegedly admit that she never felt threatened.

Dillon’s mom, Alison, was contacted by the school secretary, who informed her that her son was “in big trouble” and advised her to report to the school immediately. What followed was a series of constitutionally vague questioning, a “rush to judgment” by school, municipal, and county professionals, as well as politicians. The Huron School Board also rushed to judgment, according to Alison.

"He was just 14," she wrote on a GiveSendGo page that was set up, "when staff at his school twisted the truth and handed him over to police."

In the podcast, where Alison was interviewed, she also called local news media to task for their reporting, calling it “defaming, libelous, and salacious, and more importantly, wrong.” Alison alleged the county prosecutor was “rogue,” and that he suppressed exculpatory evidence that would have exonerated Dillon. Where have we heard that lately?

“Negligence on all sides, a biased expulsion hearing, and two off-record plea deals,” Alison said.

After having his name dragged through the mud by the media, being expelled from school, and with his parents accumulating tens of thousands of dollars in legal expenses, the juvenile court judge dropped the charges against Dillon.

In the GiveSendGo started by Alison, she also stated the following:

“This wasn’t a misunderstanding–it was a betrayal by the very adults who were supposed to protect him. And now, Dillon lives with the trauma of being branded something he’s not. He lost his innocence, his trust in authority, and his shot at a normal teenage life.

“But we are not letting this story end here.

“Dillon is smart, driven, and determined to rise above what was done to him. His dream is to attend Neumont College of Computer Science in Utah–a 3-year program that costs $120,000 and covers everything: tuition, housing, supplies. It’s a fresh start in a place where no one sees him as ‘that kid’ from the news. Just a bright young man ready to build a future.”

The family has filed a federal lawsuit seeking damages for the nightmare Dillon was put through. The fundraiser is the family’s “way of saying: no matter what the system does, we believe in Dillon.”

The goal is to raise $120,000, since filing a civil suit isn’t a guarantee that he will be able to recoup any amount. That will cover Dillon’s college expenses. The family initially set up the fundraiser through GoFundMe, but since they are devout Christians, they decided to switch to a Christian crowdfunding site, GiveSendGo.

Law Enforcement Today will be following up on this story with more details about Dillon’s case.
