NEW YORK, NY – As thousands of illegal immigrants are winding up in New York City, Democrats are now speaking up and asking President Biden and his administration start doing something about the problem. They aren’t asking him, however, to do anything at the southern border.
Congressman Jamaal Bowman, a New York Democrat, spoke out this week, saying that New York Democrats are facing an uphill battle in the 2024 election.
“Here’s the thing. Democrats are looking bad right now in New York State, and that’s unacceptable when we have to win at least four congressional seats to take back the House,” Bowman said. “So, hopefully the president is listening.”
Bowman is not the only who is worried about the next election.
According to the Washington Examiner, “The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has listed six Republican members of the House from New York as targets in the 2024 elections. They are Reps. Nick LaLota (R-NY), George Santos (R-NY), Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Marc Molinaro (R-NY), and Brandon Williams (R-NY).”
The Examiner article pointed to the “strong performance by the GOP in House races in New York in 2022” that was instrumental in the Republican Party regaining the majority in the US. House of Representatives, and removing the Speaker’s gavel from Nancy Pelosi, despite losing some key races they expected to win in other parts of the country.
But Bowman, who himself is on record as encouraging open borders, is not alone in his disdain for the way the President and his staff are addressing the border crisis and its impact on non-border states.
New York City mayor, Eric Adams, recently went on the offensive with the federal government, in spite of New York City’s claim to be a sanctuary city.
As reported in Headline USA, Adam’s recently said, “Our compassion may be limitless, but our resources are not. This is the budgetary reality we are facing if we don’t get the additional support we need,” Adams said this week. “New Yorkers did not create an international humanitarian crisis. But our city’s residents have been left to deal with this crisis almost entirely on our own.”
Fifty Democrats from the Empire State joined Adams in a letter to the White House. They didn’t ask for the administration to do something to reduce the numbers of people crossing the border illegally, but rather for more money to handle the influx in their state.
“Our city is experiencing an unprecedented migrant influx, with a surge of asylum seekers arriving here in numbers never seen before in history,” the letter read. “We take pride in New York being a beacon of hope for immigrants, but the influx of migrants is so great that the City is running out of resources.”
Meanwhile, Massachusetts has taken the unprecedented step of asking residents to open their own homes to house immigrants.

So instead of enforcing the illegal crossing, we’re just going to ask taxpayers to foot the bill to care for these future Democrat voters. Yeah, that sound fair.
