New York Lounge Turns to Bloodbath as Mass Shooting Leaves Several Dead

NEW YORK CITY, NY – An early morning mass shooting at a popular lounge in New York City has reportedly left three people dead and several other injured, with officials saying the suspects behind the incident are actively on the loose.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. earlier this week, a mass shooting took place at the hookah bar Taste of the City in the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn, which left three people dead and nine others injured.

Names of the victims have yet to be released by officials, but authorities did share the ages of the three deceased males, noting their ages as 19, 27, and 35 years old.

As for the nine remaining victims, local reports note all were transported to various local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are actively looking for up to four suspected gunmen involved in the incident, with authorities saying the shooting appears to be gang related.

A nondescript dispute apparently preceded the gunfire inside of the hookah lounge, with police retrieving shell casings of 9mm and .45 caliber weapons, estimating 42 shots having erupted inside of the establishment.

Police reportedly recovered a discarded firearm near the scene of the shooting along Bedford Avenue and Easten Parkway but haven’t confirmed whether the recovered firearm is connected to the incident.

NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the mass shooting as an “anomaly” when speaking to members of the press following the incident, assuring the public that they will catch the suspects involved.

“We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in the city of New York,” Commissioner Tisch stated, adding, “Something like this is, of course, thank God, an anomaly and it’s a terrible thing that happened this morning, but we’re going to investigate and get to the bottom of what went down.”

A local to the area who happened to be at the lounge immediately prior to the shooting and who returned shortly after the chaos described the scene, telling news outlet Gothamist, “It was a bloodbath. There was blood all over the place, bullet shells all over the place. Two people were laying there dead. One girl was shot in her face. Five or six people outside were shot.”

Descriptions of the suspects have yet to be released by officials, as investigators are actively reviewing surveillance footage from the establishment and surrounding area.
