NEW YORK CITY, NY - Authorities with the New York Police Department (NYPD) have arrested a man who allegedly broke into his neighbor's apartment and raped the 59-year-old woman who lived there.
The alleged suspect, 38-year-old Jakhongir Sattorov, was charged on Saturday, May 9 with three counts of rape, two counts of assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and criminal mischief after he beat down his victim's apartment door on Friday evening and demanded sex, the New York Post reported.
When the woman refused, Sattorov allegedly beat her and throttled her while carrying out the horrific sexual assault at her home on 15th Ave. and 71st Street around 8:30 p.m. The woman reported the attack to the NYPD at 11:15 p.m. and was later taken to Lutheran Hospital in a stable condition.
She reported that the alleged attacker was her neighbor, and she said that she knew him. Police, crime scene investigators, detectives, and the Special Victims Squad were on scene and left with multiple evidence bags. As of Sunday the investigation remains ongoing.
