SAN YSIDRO, CA - Many prominent pundits have floated the name Gavin Newsom (D-CA) as a possible alternate to the cognitively impaired, brain deficient Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee should the Democratic Party decide to launch old Joe under the bus. While Newsom and Biden don’t have a ton in common as far as their age is concerned, their ability to gaslight the American people is on equal par.
For years, we have heard Biden wax poetically about matters such as graduating first in his law school class, participating in civil rights marches in the 1960s, telling people that his uncle was eaten by cannibals in World War II and so many more yarns it’s impossible to keep track. He also lies about policy, like claiming inflation was over 9% when he took office in 2021, which is absurd and easily disproved.
Now, Newsom is under fire for making the false claim that California has doubled the amount of the state’s National Guard troops at the southern border, Fox News reports.
On Thursday, Newsom posted a video to social media from the San Ysidro Port of Entry, and said his team was meeting with the National Guard, as well as Customs and Border Patrol agents.
“We have 390 National Guardsmen and women that have been working, particularly as it relates to fentanyl, here in the state of California. Look, at the bottom line at the end of the day, they need more resources,” Newsom said.
Of course, Newsom, just as Biden does, tried to pin blame on the Republican Party for the issues at the border.
“Everybody needs more resources, and the Republican Party has been consistently standing in the way of providing the resources to support the men and women working hard, not only here at the border, but throughout the state of California and this country, to address the issues related to the border,” Newsom said.
Newsom’s claims, however, are disputed by a number of people, including Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, who has been doing stellar work at the border reporting on the invasion of illegal aliens entering the country since BIden took office.
On “Fox & Friends First,” OutKick host Tomi Lahren said Melugin and Fox News correspondent Matt Finn “smacked down” and “rebuffed” Newsom’s claims.
On Thursday, Melugin said he had not witnessed a single California National Guard soldier in Jacumba, where substantial numbers of illegals, primary men, are crossing into the US. Melugin said Border Patrol is overwhelmed by illegals wandering on highways and calling ride sharing services to be picked up.
“I sent Gov. Newsom’s below post to a BP agent in Jacumba, who responded by laughing & telling me CA ‘isn’t doing shit’ to help them with illegal crossings there, and any soldiers that they see there are National Guard from other states working w/DHS under federal TItle 10 order,” Melugin said.
“He said CA soldiers are helping with drug interdiction at ports of entry–not the mass crossing hot spots in Jacumba. If the Governor’s office has any images of CA National Guard helping Border Patrol in Jacumba, I’m happy to update,” he added.
Finn, meanwhile, also weighed in on Newsom’s video.
“We’re at the CA border right now in Jacumba, Governor Newsom. We see migrants illegally crossing all hours of the day. From China, Iran, Yemen, Nepal. Haven’t seen a single CA National Guard over the past week,” Finn reported on X.
Lahren reacted to the exchange of tweets, and said Newsom is taking a “vanity shot” at the border, while telling “bold-faced lies” to California voters and the American people.
“It’s so textbook Gavin Newsom that it actually hurts,” he said.
A Newsom spokesperson said his “words speak for themselves.”
