How New York's ICE Operations ICE Nets Murderers, Rapists, and Child Predators

NEW YORK CITY, NY – In a press release shared by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier in June, the agency highlighted a series of notable apprehensions via targeted operations in New York City involving convicted child predators, murderers, and other violent offenders illegally residing within the United States.

According to the June 10th press release from ICE, a series of “targeted enforcement operations” carried out by ICE Fugitive Operations teams throughout the New York City metropolitan area resulted in seven notable apprehensions of criminal illegal aliens with varying violent convictions.

The apprehensions listed by the agency are as follows:

  • Mosiah Wright, a criminal illegal alien from Jamaica, was previously deported following a prior murder conviction out of Minnesota. Wright also has prior arrests for carrying a concealed weapon illegally, drug possession, resisting arrest and probation violations.
  • Jose Fuentes-Saravia, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador, has a prior conviction for sexual abuse of a child under the age of 11 out of New York.
  • Vicente Mejia-Marquez, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador, has a prior conviction for rape involving a minor under the age of 17 out of New York.
  • Jose Israel Chapa Flores, a criminal illegal alien from Ecuador, has a prior conviction for forcible touching of a sexual/intimate area of a child under the age of 17 out of New York.
  • Blas Alberto Diaz, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador, was previously deported following a conviction for sexual contact with a person incapable of consent out of New York.
  • Benjamin Quijada, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador, has a prior conviction for assault out of New York and is also wanted on charges of child abuse and sexual abuse of a minor out of Maryland.
  • Franklin Saul Banegas-Cevallos, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras, has a prior conviction of attempted drug possession alongside pending charges of sale of a controlled substance out of New York.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo issued a statement in tandem with the agency’s press release, highlighting the failures rendered by “sanctuary politicians” that afforded leeway for said offenders to roam freely throughout their communities.

“While sanctuary politicians continue to prioritize criminal illegal aliens over law abiding New Yorkers, our officers are on the front lines every day keeping our communities safe from murderers, rapists and pedophiles that prey on our most vulnerable citizens. Protecting New Yorkers from criminal illegal aliens will always be a priority for this office. We will never waver in our commitment to arrest criminal illegal aliens and remove them from our country,” Director Genalo stated.
