Ohio House of Horrors Reveals A Mom Who Held Her Beaten Kids Underwater for Years: Police

CINCINNATI, OH- A 37-year-old Ohio woman has been arrested in connection with “abusing, torturing, and attempting to drown three children,” Law & Crime reports.

Anjelica Stewart was charged by police, who released the disturbing details of the case where she “held them underwater” while screaming at the children, aged 14, 8, and 2, prosecutors said.

“I’m going to kill you!” Stewart yelled at her children at their home in Cincinnati’s Westwood neighborhood.

It’s unknown when the attempted murders took place, however NBC affiliate WLWT said the children were abused and tortured for a four-year period between 2021 and 2025.

Stewart was arrested this week after an arrest warrant was issued earlier this month.

“She repeatedly filled a bathtub full of water, held them underwater, screaming she was going to kill them,” a Hamilton County prosecutor told the court during her Tuesday arraignment. “She beat them with poles, metal clasps, dog chains, beat and choked them with belts, [and] strangled them with her hands.”

In one case, Stewart allegedly slammed one of the kids on the floor so hard that they stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated by another child who performed CPR. There were no details of how police were notified about the incidents of abuse.

“What a horrific situation for those children,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich told the outlet. “I hope that they’re in safekeeping right now.”

According to officials, the children are staying with family members and friends while the court case plays out.

“The children are terrified of her,” Pilich said at Tuesday’s arraignment. “The family as well. The danger not only to them, [but] the rest of the family.”

Stewart was charged with 19 counts, including attempted murder, felonious assault, endangering children, and sexual imposition. The latter charge involves one of the children, prosecutors said. She is currently being held on a $500,000 bond and has been ordered to have no contact with her children. At her arraignment, Stewart pleaded not guilty.
