ANAHEIM, CA - Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for a violent hit-and-run at an illegal street takeover in Anaheim. According to ABC7, video shows a Dodge Charger skidding out into a group of pedestrians that were standing in the intersection, then running over several of them.
Other spectators surround the vehicle, kicking it before the driver flees out of it on foot, leaving the Charger at the scene. Responding officers found two badly injured 19-year-old males at the scene in the middle of the street near the abandoned Charger.
The teens, one from Lancaster and one from Orange, were hospitalized and treated for multiple broken bones, abrasions, and lacerations. The incident happened on Friday, November 1st, around 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of State College Boulevard and Orangewood Avenue.
Three days later, on Monday, November 4th, Anaheim police announced the arrest of 20-year-old Hassan Hamid Ali, of Torrance. He was found on Sunday, November 3rd and arrested for felony hit and run and felony exhibition of speed. He was booked into the local jail.
CBS News reported that Ali lost control of his Charger while doing donuts during the street takeover. Sgt. Jacob Gallacher said in a statement, "It's just extremely dangerous, extremely dangerous behavior. Vehicles being operated in such a reckless manner, such a dangerous manner. Burnouts, doing donuts in the middle of the intersection people encroaching on this. It's absolutely unsafe."
People in the crowd had to life the car off the injured teens. They placed the young men next to the wrecked car until officers and firefighters arrived on scene. Investigators said they received tips and videos after the crash surfaced on social media. They used the leads to track down Ali.
Police believe there may be additional victims. The department asks anyone with any information about the case to call officers at 714-765-1900. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIPS-OCCS.

According to NBC Connecticut, around 11:15 p.m. police responded to the intersection of Shelton Avenue and Bassett Street.
Once there, they found a blue Crown Victoria in the center of a circle of spectators. Authorities said that there have been thefts of municipal Crown Victorias in recent weeks reported by various towns and a similar vehicle was reportedly involved in several incidents including shutting down Interstate 95 on the Pear Memorial Bridge on October 19th.
Police attempted to stop the car, but the driver fled from police. Stop sticks were successfully deployed and officers pursued the vehicle. The 18-year-old male driver continued to flee until the right tire came off the car at the entrance to I-91 North. The driver exited the car and attempted to flee, however, officers apprehended him after a foot chase.
The driver is facing charges including racing/spectating, larceny of a motor vehicle, interfering with police, reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, failure to obey officer signal, reckless endangerment, and criminal trespass. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
