PORTLAND, OR - In what Oregon authorities are calling an “orchestrated attack,” a group of masked and hooded assailants vandalized the Multnomah County Elections building, shattering dozens of its windows and scrawling the façade with anti-government graffiti.
In the early morning hours of Inauguration Day, the group reportedly descended upon the Elections building according to ABC News with the attack beginning shortly before 2 am. Police told the outlet that the suspects fled as officers arrived. No employees were in the building at the time.
At a press briefing, Portland Police Chief Bob Day told reporters, “It indicates, or demonstrates, what I would consider to be an orchestrated attack on this building." He explained, “It's about eight to 10 folks. They were on the scene for probably two minutes. So they definitely showed up with a plan ... and were gone just as quickly just after they did the damage.”
Though the Chief acknowledged the graffiti was anti-establishment and anti-government he said, “At this point, we are not suggesting that this was directly related to the inauguration,” speaking of the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
“It's important to remember that we have seen these types of attacks regardless of who's in office,” he added.
KATU News reporter Mike Warner reported via X, “All the windows at the Multnomah County Elections Office in SE #Portland have been broken. An official tells me it appears someone threw rocks through the windows with glass covering sidewalks.”
The Post Millennial’s Senior Editor Andy Ngo, who has covered Antifa for almost a decade, reported, “The tactics used in the attack on democracy in Portland, which is being ignored by liberal media, match that of Antifa. In 2017 and 2020, Antifa in Portland violently attacked the public on inauguration day as revenge for elections they don't view as legitimate. Police locally also have made no arrest over the November 2024 ballot-box fires where the message, 'Free Gaza' was written on the incendiary devices.”
As of the ABC News report Tuesday morning no arrests were made, but the Portland Police Bureau is circulating surveillance footage and asking the public to assist in identifying the perpetrators.
Elections Director Tim Scott told the AP in an emailed statement, “Nothing like this has happened before in the 17 years I’ve been with Multnomah County,” adding that County security is working with the PPB to investigate the crime.

The police need to go after these ignorant thugs and lock them up! I think "hoodies" need to be outlawed! These people use them as a disguise along with their covid masks and sun glasses. Time to get these idiots off our streets!
