Polish Pathologist Arrested After Remains of 32 Unborn Babies Found Buried in Her Garden

LUTORYZ, POLAND - A pathologist has been arrested after the remains of more than 30 unborn babies were found in her former garden, authorities reported.

The fetal remains were discovered after construction workers found medical waste in the ground, according to PEOPLE. On Saturday, June 13, prosecutors said that the remains of 32 human fetuses were discovered. The day before, on Friday, June 12, Magdalena H. was detained in connection with the crime.

Magdalena, a pathologist, told investigators that she took the fetal remains from a hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic and used them for medical research at her home. She claimed she placed the remains in bags and buried them on the property after the alleged examinations.

Medical materials were also found on the scene, including tubes, microscope slides and potential hospital records. Investigators are looking into whether there are more burial sites and any accomplices. Forensic crews were seen sifting through the soil around the house.

A waterwork truck was also dispatched to the scene to search drains and sewer systems for evidence. Magdalena reportedly bought the property two years ago before selling it six months ago. The investigation remains ongoing.

She was described by a locals as "a bit strange." If convicted, Magdalena faces up to 12 years in prison.
