Political hack Texas sheriff who spoke at the Democratic National Convention slammed by fellow sheriffs

BEXAR COUNTY, TX - Among sheriffs across the country, a number come to mind who put public safety before politics. They include Sheriffs Grady Judd of Polk County, Florida, Mark Lamb of Pinal County, Arizona, and former sheriffs Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, and Alex Villanueva of Los Angeles County, California. There are many others as well. 

Then there is Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County, Texas. Appearing at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last week, Salazar made one of the most bizarre claims ever made by a law enforcement official. 

Despite an invasion of an estimated 10 million foreigners into the country under the “watch” of the Biden/Harris administration, Salazar stated the following:

“When Donald Trump comes down to Texas, stands next to officers in uniforms just like mine, he’s not there to help us. Don’t think that Not for a second. He is a self-serving man. Now Kamala [Harris] on the other hand, has been fighting border crime for years.” 

For the record, in three-and-one-half years as “border czar,” Kamala Harris has been nowhere near the border. And as stated above, her abdication of her title has led to an unprecedented surge of illegal aliens into the United States. 

Needless to say, Salazar’s remarks rang hollow with not only most law enforcement officers nationwide who are dealing with an illegal alien crime surge, but among his fellow sheriffs. 

“After watching Sheriff Salazar at the DNC last night, you know, I was taken aback,” Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland said, according to News 4 San Antonio. “He’s not a border sheriff. And to make those comments about President Trump and current Vice President Harris…um…untrue.” 

In a Facebook post, Cleveland wrote:

“I worked as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent under the Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden Administrations. The previous four administrations prior to President Biden, all contributed to Border Security. This administration has dismantled Border Security and AMericans are paying the price.” 

Salazar apparently has a problem with his memory. In 2022, Salazar sent a letter to Joe Biden asking for more resources as well as a personal meeting with him to address a “humanitarian crisis” at the southern border. The letter was in response to a tractor trailer full of illegal aliens being smuggled into the country that led to 51 people dying from heat-related illness. 

 Salazar accused Biden of “inaction in helping with the humanitarian crisis” being used by Gov. Greg Abbott in what he accused the governor of using as “one big campaign stunt,” KSAT reported. 

“I am reaching out to you for the third time and requesting assistance,” Salazar wrote. [emphasis added] “As a first responder, we are trained to remove emotions from our decisions and actions, to the extent possible. With that being said, as I write this, over 50 likely undocumented immigrants are dead in my county with several others hospitalized, due to the actions of those who would profit off of the misery of smuggling victims. Among those hospitalized are children who most likely had no say in where they are, how they got here, or what they witnessed as those around them died a horrible death. 

“I’m angry, Mr. President. I’m angry that I could not stop this massive loss of life in my county. I’m angry that, despite my best efforts to appeal to your administration, I have not received a response.” [emphasis added]

Recall what Salazar said at the DNC: 

“Now Kamala [Harris] on the other hand, has been fighting border crime for years.” 

So, was Salazar lying when he wrote to Biden in 2022, or is he lying now? We’ll take the latter. 

Cleveland wasn’t the only one who slammed Salazar for his blatant lie at the DNC. 

In a Facebook post, Sheriff Randy Brown of Medina County, Texas wrote:

“I completely disagree with Sheriff Salazar, and this upcoming election should not be about parties, it should be about the person that will get the job done and that’s Trump. I don’t understand how a person in law enforcement can endorse the problem,” Brown wrote. “The truths the truth and it’s as clear as day, myself and many other Sheriff’s fight the Biden/Harris open border crimes day and night here in the Great State of Texas. How a man that pins a badge on and swears to uphold the oath can stand up and say what he says is unbelievable. “WE,” the real Texas Sheriffs, know the truth and are not blinded by democratic bull shit. Mr. Trump, you are welcome to come stand beside me anytime.” 

Sheriff David Soward of Atascosa County, Texas also lit up Salazar in a Facebook post after writing that he “focuses on the duties of my office and not being a politician:

“With that having been said, we are in the middle of an election cycle that is critical for the future of our county, our state, and our nation. While you may hear from County leaders from heavily populated urban areas like San Antonio, tell you things that make for a good sound bit on TV, they just don’t match up with what we see everyday. I am here to tell you that we have an open border that is impacting ALL of us, not just in South Texas, but around the nation.”

“The massive influx of millions of people are not just individuals looking for agricultural jobs or factory work. A huge number are career criminals from prisons being emptied in Central and South America…confirmed gang members with ultra violent histories, including international terrorists. 

“I speak to you as not just your elected Sheriff, but as a friend to many here in South Texas. I’m not here to tell those in power in Washington DC what they want to hear in hopes of a future political appointment. Nor am I laying the groundwork for higher office like other elected officials who never shy away from a chance to jump in front of a camera.” 

Salazar is up for reelection in November. Hopefully voters in his county see him for the partisan fraud that he is and send him packing. He is an embarrassment to his profession. 

And hopefully his dream of selling out fellow law enforcement officials both in Texas and nationwide as well as the citizens of his county in the hopes of getting a position in a Harris administration goes down the toilet as well when former President Donald Trump is reelected as the 47th President of the United States.
