Pregnant Iowa Mom Targeted in Shocking Opioid-Laced Lasagna Plot

DECORAH, IA – A 36-year-old woman is currently behind bars on several felony charges, including charges of administering of harmful substances, after authorities say the suspect delivered an opioid-laced tray of lasagna to a pregnant woman’s family in an alleged attempt to induce a miscarriage.

On March 10th, 36-year-old Amber Snow was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on charges of administering harmful substances to an adult, administering harmful substances to a juvenile, attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy, child endangerment, and controlled substances violations.

According to authorities, an investigation was opened this past January after a family contacted authorities about a lasagna dish that was allegedly given to them by Snow three days after Christmas in 2025 which was believed to have been tainted. Subsequent testing of the lasagna revealed the presence of oxycodone, which led investigators down an alleged plot where a nefarious effort to terminate a woman’s unborn child was disguised as a friendly gesture.

After a months’ long probe involving several executed search warrants, the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that Snow, along with another unnamed coconspirator, had planned to use the delivered dish to kill the victim’s unborn child.

“The investigation identified electronic communications and search history on the defendants' accounts and phones from before and after the lasagna was prepared and delivered to another family on Dec. 28, 2025,” the sheriff’s office noted in their statement, adding, “During the investigation, it was determined that delivery of the tainted lasagna was intended to cause a miscarriage to a pregnancy of a woman in the family that received the lasagna.”

Snow shares custody of her child with a person reportedly related to the pregnant victim in the case, with said juvenile having apparently learned of Snow’s alleged plot. Local reports out of Iowa claimed Snow’s juvenile child had voiced their opposition to the potentially lethal plot.

Snow remains in custody with a cash-only bond of $100,000 set in her case. The unnamed coconspirator has yet to be charged, but officials say an additional arrest is likely to occur in the case. The suspect’s next court appearance is slated for March 23rd.
