Same day Blinken essay bragged about Biden-Harris foreign policy success, Iran launched barrage of missiles on Israel

WASHINGTON, DC- A magazine essay written by Secretary of State Antony Blinken bragging about the Biden-Harris administration’s foreign policy successes didn’t age well, being published the same day the little skirmish between Israel and Iran reached critical mass when the rogue nation launched a volley of missiles at Israel, the New York Post reports.

Writing in Foreign Affairs Magazine, Blinken wrote, “The Biden administration’s strategy has put the United States in a much stronger geopolitical position today than it was four years ago.”

“We increased diplomatic pressure and strengthened the US military’s force posture to deter and constrain Tehran,” Blinkin wrote in another section of the poorly-timed essay. He later took to slamming former President Donald Trump for pulling the US out of the ill-advised Iran nuclear deal and who, it should be noted, negotiated the Abraham Accords between Israel and other Arab states, giving hope for a lasting peace.

“We demonstrated to Iran that there was a path back to a mutual return to compliance–if Iran was willing to take it–while maintaining a robust sanctions regime and our commitment that Iran will never be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon,” Blinken said of the Biden-Harris scheme toward the rogue nation, possibly the leading state sponsor of terror in the world.

Blinken should check with the International Atomic Energy Agency, which in August said that Iran possessed 164.7 kilograms (363.1 pounds) of uranium enriched to 60%, as reported by the Associated Press. That agency noted that threshold “is just a short, technical step away from weapons-grade levels.” It further said that 42 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% is the amount at which developing one nuclear weapon is theoretically possible if it is further enriched to 90%. That might indicate Iran plans to skirt those “robust sanctions.”

As expected, Blinken’s ill-timed essay was met with widespread criticism on social media.

“Yikes,” Donald Trump Jr. wrote on X.

“Has anything aged so fast?” read a tweet from Libs of TikTok.

Yet another social media user answered, “Does anyone have worse political instincts or timing than this disastrous regime?”

Joe Concha, Fox News contributor, called Blinken’s essay “an end zone dance by Blinken…as the world burns.”

And another:

The essay was also published a day after Israel announced a limited ground assault into Lebanon to eviscerate Hezbollah terrorists.

In his essay, Blinken bragged that the Biden-Harris administration “has been working tirelessly with partners in the Middle East and beyond to end the conflict and suffering in Gaza, find a diplomatic solution that enables Israelis and Lebanese to live in safety on both sides of the border, manage the risk of a wider regional war, and work toward greater integration and normalization in the region, including between Israel and Saudi Arabia.”

Part of that “integration and normalization” includes a so-called “two-state solution,” which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected out of hand.

“Those efforts are independent,” Blinken said. “Without an end to the war in Gaza and a time-bound credible path to statehood that addresses the Palestinians’ legitimate aspirations and Israel’s security needs, normalization cannot move forward.”

Blinken continued, “But if these efforts succeed, normalization would join Israel to a regional security architecture, unlock economic opportunities across the region, and isolate Iran and its proxies.” He wrote that he saw “a glimmer of such integration” last April when Iran again launched a bombardment of drones and ballistic missiles toward Israel.

Given that Iran has said nothing short of the elimination of Israel would be acceptable, it may be difficult to imagine a world where the two peacefully coexist.
