California man sentenced to six life terms in case of multiple rapes, sexual assaults of five victims aged 13 to 18

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA - A San Mateo County man convicted of multiple rapes and sexual assaults involving underage girls has been sentenced to six life terms in prison, plus an additional 245 years without the possibility of parole, CBS News Bay Area reported.

Last week, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe issued a statement announcing that 32-year-old Kaylan Freeman of El Granada received the bad news from a judge for the cases where he sexually assaulted five separate victims aged 13 to 18.

The madman was convicted in August of multiple sexual offenses, which included 11 counts of forcible rape and six counts of forcible copulation of a child over the age of 14. He was also found guilty of kidnapping to commit child molestation, forcible child molestation, kidnapping to commit another felony, and rape by use of drugs.

Two victim impact statements from two of his victims were read at the sentencing hearing, with prosecutors also announcing that Freeman expressed no remorse for his horrific crimes.

“The court noted the defendant had no remorse for his conduct and was smirking in court as the victim impact statements were read,” the DA’s office said in a statement.

Freeman was arrested in early 2021 by San Mateo Sheriff’s deputies following a lengthy investigation into sexual assaults and rape of girls under 14 in the county that began in 2012. Deputies said at the time that Freeman contacted his victims through social media apps.

Freeman’s identity remained unknown for years until detectives finally received a break in the case from a witness, who identified Freeman to authorities, the sheriff’s office said at the time of his arrest.

Along with the prison terms, Freeman was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine, pay restitution to the victims, register as a sex offender, and have no contact with the victims for ten years.

Freeman remains in custody without bail pending his incarceration.

CRAIG

"sentenced to six life terms in prison, plus an additional 245 years without the possibility of parole". Why are the citizens paying to keep this piece of trash alive? There is no possibility of rehabilitation, no parole. Announce to the other prisoners the reason he is there and turn him loose into the general population.
