SANTA MONICA, CA- The Santa Monica Police Department issued a press release announcing a murder-suicide caused the deaths of a couple in the city.
Police responded to Pico Boulevard on Sept. 26 in the early morning hours, where the dead couple were found. Investigators found that the husband fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. Police recovered a firearm at the scene.
The department said no other individuals were believed to be involved and that there was no threat to the public.
The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner will determine the specific causes and manners of death and confirm the identities of the deceased. No identification has yet been released as of publication time, although some sources referred to the deceased as “an elderly couple.”
