Eustace wore the badge for more than 30 years, with 20 years spent deep in undercover narcotics. What he saw, endured, and overcame paints a vivid picture of the hidden battles law enforcement officers face both on the streets and in their souls. He sat down to share more about his journey in the latest episode of “Sheepdog and Shepherd.”

Raised in a large Catholic family of six boys and four girls, Eustace never imagined where life would take him.

“As a child, my mom… we were raised Catholic,” he recalled. “I didn’t really understand anything about that. Mostly it was me and my brother fighting about who got to ring the bell during the service”.

But when his mother began seeking “truth about the Most High and about Yeshua the Messiah,” the entire trajectory of their family changed. “Her prayers and her influence eventually took hold, and all of her sons became saved”.

That grounding in faith would support Eustace as he entered the law enforcement field. From patrol and canine work, he quickly transitioned into investigations, eventually being recruited for narcotics work.

“I started as a young narcotics officer, knowing nothing,” he said. “Back then… you learned on the job. The older guys go, this is what you do. This is how we’re going to play the game”.

Undercover work became his calling. “Unless you’ve been there, I don’t think a lot of people understand,” he admitted. “My job was to infiltrate drug trafficking organizations… identify these people, endear myself to them, and work my way to the top.”

But the work carried a deeper spiritual aspect. “In the world of narcotics, you’re living a lie. Everything about you is a lie,” he reflected.

“That’s no different than what evil does every day to human beings. He creates an illusion of truth, throws it out there with just a nugget of truth, and everything else around there is a deception”.

Despite the dangers and the darkness, faith remained his anchor. For Eustace, the war against cartels, crime, and deception on the streets reflected the greater war against sin and falsehood.

“If you don’t know everything, you could be thinking one thing and totally wrong when it comes to what the truth is,” Eustace said. His story is a reminder that behind every badge is a life shaped not only by sacrifice but by faith in something greater.
