SAN DIEGO, CA – A known Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agitator with a history of prior arrests, including violent offenses, was reportedly let inside of a San Diego high school while fleeing federal agents earlier in March.
The individual who allowed the fleeing suspect to gain entry to the school grounds was reportedly the principal, who was aware the suspect was actively fleeing federal authorities.
King Chavez High School Principal Desi Sullivan is facing intense scrutiny after video reportedly captured the moments where she allowed notorious ICE agitator Arturo Gonzalez in through the secured gates of the high school while he was fleeing federal agents on March 4th.
According to officials, ICE officers were in the midst of conducting targeted enforcement operations within the area of K and 30th Streets at approximately 8:30 a.m. when they were approached by the 24-year-old agitator who was filming his exploits.
Per video recorded by Gonzalez of the interaction, he began circling the vehicle and harassing the officers inside while shouting “la migra” and “nazi,” repeatedly shoving his phone up to the driver’s side window.
When one of the agents exited the vehicle in an effort to confront Gonzalez, the suspect fled on foot while screaming for help.
Gonzalez eventually made his way to the front of King Chavez High School, hitting the callbox button and explicitly telling who answered that he was being chased by ICE.
Seemingly without hesitation, Gonzalez was buzzed into the school grounds and was even told by a woman, later identified as Principal Sullivan, to get inside the school building in order to avoid detection.
Local news outlet NBC San Diego were among the first to reveal the identity of Principal Sullivan as being the individual who allowed Gonzalez inside of what is supposed to be a secured school where only students, parents/guardians and authorized personnel are to be permitted access.
When an NBC San Diego reporter caught up with Principal Sullivan and directly asked why she allowed Gonzalez into the school and harbored him until ICE left the area, Principal Sullivan responded with, “Not right now, sir.”
Gonzalez was also interviewed the by news outlet and openly admitted that Principal Sullivan’s actions likely obstructed justice, saying, “It was so fortunate the principal was there because I may have been detained, I may have charges against me.”
ICE’s San Diego office issued a statement regarding the incident, calling the actions of Principal Sullivan “deeply disturbing,” highlighting Gonzalez’s criminal history which includes prior arrests for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.
No other school officials or representatives of the school district have commented on the matter as of this writing, nor have there been any indications that disciplinary action will be taken against Principal Sullivan.
