CINCINNATI, OH - Authorities with the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) announced that the press conference related to a shooting that has left an 11-year-old boy dead and five others injured will be held on Sunday, November 5th.

In a statement, Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge said, "As we want to provide our communities with the most detailed information as possible, the press conference previously scheduled for this afternoon has been rescheduled for Sunday. CPD simply needs additional time to gather many more important details to this senseless tragedy."

The shooting, which took place in the West End of the city, reportedly happened around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, November 3rd, near Jones Street and Wade Street.

Upon arrival, responding officers found several victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The 11-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple juveniles were shot. As of this writing, the ages and names of those individuals have not been released.

Police stated that three victims were transported to Cincinnati Children's, with one of them suffering life-threatening injuries. According to an update given on the morning of November 4th, Children's said that two remain at the hospital with the same condition has when they got there. One patient was released overnight.

Two other victims were transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and according to police, both individuals were treated and released from the hospital shortly after.

Theetge expressed her frustration by saying, "This is absolutely unacceptable in our city, that on a Friday night, six people were shot in one incident."

Hours into the investigation and Theetge said that they still do not have any information on the alleged suspect or suspects and that there is no indication on what may have warranted such a violent situation.

The chief did, however, confirm that as of right now, there are no indications of ongoing threats to the community. She said, "Homicide is here working the scene ... so that we can gather every bit of evidence that we can gather to bring whoever's responsible for this to justice."

In a post on social media, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval said, "There was a horrific tragedy in the West End. Children were shot. At least one life was lost. Our friends and neighbors are feeling unimaginable fear, trauma and anger."

Theetge said that she too, shares the anger of local residents about the violence. She said, "This is happening too often. People are reverting to gun violence rather than resolving disputes in a humane manner. It is not humane to pull out a firearm and shoot individuals recklessly."

Anyone with information about the homicide is encouraged to contact CPD's Homicide Unit at 513-352-3542.
