Former professional athletes often spend their careers chasing championships, recognition, and personal achievement. For former MLS goalkeeper Tally Hall, however, purpose came from somewhere else entirely: serving his community.
That journey was featured in The Line, a series sponsored by GALLS that highlighted first responders and the people behind the badge through candid conversations about service, sacrifice, and duty. In addition to sponsoring the series, GALLS also served as a corporate sponsor for the National Law Enforcement Memorial Service held Friday, May 15, honoring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

After stepping away from professional soccer, Hall found himself drawn toward law enforcement, searching for a career centered on meaning rather than personal accolades. Throughout the interview, he reflected on the realities of policing, the importance of proactive law enforcement, and the responsibility officers carry every day while protecting their communities.
One of the most powerful moments came as Hall discussed a period where reduced policing efforts coincided with rising crime rates in his community.
“No matter what has happened since then, I can go back to that phase in my law enforcement career and know when we take a step back, even though we were trying to do the right thing for the community, when we take a step back, the community didn't get safer,” Hall explained.
It was a perspective shared by many officers across the country who witnessed firsthand the consequences of anti-police rhetoric and declining support for law enforcement in recent years.
Still, despite the challenges, Hall emphasized the deep sense of purpose the profession provides.
“What you're doing matters,” he said. “The community, this country, needs law enforcement officers.”
Through The Line, GALLS continued shining a spotlight on the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting others, reminding viewers that behind every badge is a person driven by service and commitment.
