Teenager charged with murder of man who was selling AirPods

SANFORD, FL - Authorities have announced the arrest of the person responsible for fatally shooting 22-year-old Brandon Leo, who was waiting in his pickup truck while trying to sell a pair of AirPods.

According to WFTV, police have arrested 15-year-old Dra'shawn Williams. He has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Leo. Investigators said that Leo traveled to a residence on West 3rd near Pomergranate Avenue back on July 20th when he was approached in the driveway of the home by two people he did not know.

At the time of the incident, Sanford Police Department (SPD) spokesperson Bianca Gillett said, "During the interaction, Brandon begins reversing out of the driveway, then several gunshots were fired. The truck, still in reverse, continues into the retention pond where it was located by Sanford officers." Police discovered Leo's body in the partially submerged pickup truck.

In a prepared statement after the incident, SPD Chief  Cecil Smith said, "A family is grieving the loss of their son over a pair of headphones. Senseless doesn't being to describe this tragedy. Our investigators have been working diligently to locate these two individuals who clearly have no regard for the value of human life."

Weeks later, SPD obtained an arrest warrant for Williams that was executed on Wednesday, August 21st. The teenager was already in custody on unrelated charges. According to reports, the judge ordered Williams to remain in custody until his arraignment on September 9th. Outside of the courtroom his mother said, "I just want [the victim's] family to know my heart goes out to them, but Dra'Shawn Williams is not the shooter."

A resident who lives in the neighborhood, Dauntaye Alderman, shared what he heard the night of the shooting. He said, "I was just standing there enjoying myself, then all of a sudden, I hear one shot, then I hear dozens more ring out after that." As of this writing, the other individual that was allegedly there the night Leo was murdered as yet to be identified. The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with any information is encouraged to call SPD or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

In a separate incident, a Pompano Beach man was shot dead outside of his home around 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19th. According to CBS News, the victim has been identified as Keith Poole, a father of three, and the shooter has been identified as his daughter's boyfriend, whom Poole had taken in as family.

The shooting took place at his residence located on the 1500 block of Northeast 28 Street in Pompano Beach, Florida. Upon arriving on scene, officers found Poole with multiple gunshot wounds outside of his home. Bridgett Donovan, who dated Poole on and off for more than a decade, said that his 17-year-old daughter's boyfriend was the person who pulled the trigger.

Donovan said, "Her boyfriend who also lived in the home with them. It was found out that he had a weapon in the home and Keith told him that he had to leave. The kid walked out and said something about his friends are killers and Keith said, 'You know, whatever you have going on, you need to get out of my house. You can't stay here no more.' And the boy pulled out the gun and shot him in the neck and the chest."

Donovan said that Poole took the boy in after his parents died and treated him like a son. She said that since the shooting, the boyfriend and Poole's daughter are missing and the rest of the family fears for the young girl's life. Donovan said, "Nobody has contact with her, nobody knows where she is. She's a minor and we believe that she's in danger."

People who knew and loved Poole described him as selfless, fun, outgoing, and the kind of guy who would do anything to help someone who needed it. Donovan said, "He was such a people person, everybody loved him and he would give the shift off of his back for anyone. The last of a dying breed in today's world."
