Tennessee fifth grade teacher confesses to sex crimes with five students, becoming pregnant by 12-year-old

MEMPHIS, TN - A former Tipton County teacher who stood accused of raping a 12-year-old boy with whose child she became pregnant pleaded guilty Friday to multiple felony charges. Those charges included Rape of a Child, two counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure, three counts of Aggravated Statutory Rape, three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor by Electronic Means, two counts of Solicitation of a Minor: Aggravated Statutory Rape, and one count of violating the Child Protection Act.

The charges are related to five of 38-year-old Alissa McCommon’s victims, there could be as many as 21.

As The New York Post reported, McCommon, a fifth-grade teacher before her termination, was sentenced to 25 years in prison by Circuit Court Judge Blake Neill without the possibility of parole. She will also be required to register as a Violent Sex Offender for the rest of her life and is forbidden from contacting her victims. According to WREG, Neill has also said that McCommon will have “no contact with the infant child.”

The report revealed that one of the ex-educator’s victims was called by the teacher over 200 times. She allegedly formed friendships with her student’s mothers and used them to provide access to her victims outside of school. She even played video games with one of her victims and sent sexually explicit photos to him via Snapchat. She told the boy she was pregnant with his child and threatened suicide if he ended the abuse.

The mother of the 12-year-old victim gave a victim’s statement in court, telling the woman, “I loved you like family, opened my doors to you. You used our friendship to hurt me and the people I love in this world, took innocence from my son before puberty, took what was supposed to be a great experience and tainted it. Your mind is sick and twisted for looking at a child and being turned on.

“The innocent child will be loved and raised without your influence. There’s no amount of time they can give you that will equal what God will give you. You will burn in hell.”

Tipton County District Attorney Mark Davidson, who led McCommon’s prosecution since her arrest in September 2023, applauded her plea and sentencing telling reporters, “These convictions and sentence demonstrate the continuing commitment of law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office to aggressively investigate and prosecute child rape and sexual abuse cases in this District, especially where there are minor child victims.”

He added, “We are glad that we were able to achieve finality, certainty, and closure for the victims and their families and the Tipton County community in this case.”
