FULSHEAR, TX - Police said that a father has been accused of intentionally setting his home on fire with his three children inside of it. Fox News reported that the suspect, 46-year-old Pedro Luis Pulgar has been charged with three counts of attempted murder. His bond has been set at $2.25 million.
Police said that the fire was reported back on November 6th, at 31619 Eldorado Lane in the Polo Ranch Community. Pulgar suffered extensive injuries in the fire and had a lengthy stay at the hospital before he was released on Thursday, December 12th. He was then booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.
According to police, the home sustained significant damage due to the fire and first responders were quickly on scene. Two of the children were able to escape the home and only suffered minor injuries. A third child, who is just three-years-old, remained trapped inside. Officers on scene heard faint sounds from within the home and entered through a bedroom window to rescue the child.
The three-year-old was suffering from severe smoke inhalation and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, he has since been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
In Brentwood, Tennessee, a fire broke out at a home on Warner Court. According to reports, Allen Whitt says the house where his ex-wife and two daughters lived was completely burnt days before Thanksgiving. He said, "It's just disbelief that someone would do such a thing. It's such a loss. They burnt down my kids' home and the house [of] the mother of my children. I mean, that is an attack."
No one was inside of the house when it burnt to the ground. However, on the day of the fire, Whitt said that he found what looked to be a Molotov cocktail on the property. He said, "It switched from loss to anger, about how could somebody do this?"
The Brentwood Fire Department confirmed that the fire was done on purpose. They have since passed the investigation off to the Brentwood Police Department. Due to it being an active case, the police could not confirm if arson was involved or if it involved a Molotov cocktail.
To generate leads, Whitt started sharing flyers online, hoping to get some answers. He said, "We thought Brentwood was safe - it's one of the reasons why we moved her. To have something unresolved and unsolved is ... we need closure."
