Toddler-Snatching Man Strikes New York Laundromat in Broad Daylight

LONG ISLAND, NY - A four-year-old girl has been found safe after she was kidnapped by a stranger who led her out of a laundromat without the mother noticing.

Police have arrested 38-year-old Carlos Corte for allegedly leading the toddler out of the back of Laundry Kingdom in Patchogue while her mother was there, according to Suffolk County police, the New York Post reported.

The girl's mother reported her missing following the terrifying incident just after midday on Saturday, March 28. Police responded to the scene and reviewed surveillance footage.

During a canvas of the area, the girl was found by her mother in the children's play area of the Patchogue-Medford Library, just a few doors down from the laundromat.

Corte, of Patchogue, was charged with second-degree kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, March 29.

In Lexington, Kentucky, a man has been arrested and charged in the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a child under 12 years old, WLKY reported. On Saturday, March 28, police were called out to the 1300 block of Devonport Drive after receiving reports about a child who had been assaulted.

The victim, who officials said is under the age of 12, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police arrested Jorge Luis Martinez Ulloa and charged him with kidnapping of a minor, first-degree strangulation, two counts of first-degree rape involving a victim under 12, two counts of first-degree sodomy involving a victim under 12, and two counts of sexual abuse of a victim under 12.

Ulloa is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center, awaiting arraignment.
