Tulsa, OK: No one likes to receive a citation under any circumstances, especially while partygoers are enjoying themselves. It simply brings down the mood and kills the party.
On September 27th, the Tulsa PD was called a second time for what the neighbor called “an all-day party” and complained of excessive noise.
Officer Greene responded to the second call and was forced to issue the citation.
But he did more than that.
He was the bad guy who was forced to write a ticket for a noise complaint. But then Officer Greene went on to be the crowd hero by showing off his slick dance moves in front of the large crowd.
“Since this was the second time Officers got called out there for the same issue, Officer Greene did issue a nuisance sound citation... but while he was there, he took a few minutes to also show off his dance moves!” the Tulsa PD Facebook page wrote.
Officer Greene can be seen in a video that quickly racked up over a million views and well over a thousand comments in just a few days, dancing to what appears to be a choreographed routine, much like the electric slide.
“If I’m ever in Tulsa again and I'm at a party where the music is too loud I hope this guy comes to tell us to turn down the music. We need more officers like this everywhere especially in Ar [Arkansas],” one person wrote on Facebook.
Another person wrote, “Man, I love this. Connecting with the community and being a part of the community. They are all going to see him for who he is and not just the police. Good on you Officer Green.”
After several years of the media focusing on negative police interactions with the public, it’s relieving to see them covering a positive interaction.
“What a wonderful display of community policing! Officer Greene, your actions show that even in tough situations, there's room for kindness and a little fun. You're making a real difference!” another person wrote. Watch the full dance video HERE.
After the impressive display of modern dance moves, the partygoers expressed appreciation for his candor and followed him up by turning the music down.
Several Facebook users suggested that Officer Greene receive recognition for his actions and ability to turn a complaint into a fun-filled, memorable experience.
“This officer needs to be recognized for being understanding and making peace as not to intimidate the people,” one person wrote.
The only question that remains is, will Officer Greene be recognized?
You tell us, Tulsa Police Department.
