Secret Service agents from assassination attempt hire lawyers, indicating agency going to throw them under the bus

BUTLER, PA - The Secret Service's failures to protect former President Donald Trump on July 13 during a rally in Pennsylvania have been widely documented. On Wednesday, the New York Times published an investigation into those failures, adding a few details.

Headline USA reported that the Times investigation didn’t shed any new light on the Secret Service's screw-ups. What it did do, for the first time, was identify some of the agents who were present as part of Trump’s protection detail on that July afternoon.

Those agents identified included the lead countersniper at the rally, John Marciniak, the agency’s lead advance agent, Meridith Bank, and two site agents, Myosoty Perez and Dana DuBrey. The latter two are the agents who have hired lawyers.

As of today, two of the four have been put on administrative duties, not including the “lead advance agent,” whom one might think would bear some responsibility for the agency’s failures that saw President Trump come within ¼ inch of losing his life. Perez and DuBrey are on administrative leave, and both have hired attorneys. Pittsburgh USSS agent in charge Timothy Burke is also on leave.

An FBI whistleblower, Greg Roman, told Headline USA that by retaining attorneys, the two agents believe the Secret Service may be looking to use them as scapegoats for the botched security detail.

“The Secret Service higher-ups will gladly sacrifice a few of their own just to placate Congress and some in the media to put this thing to bed as soon as possible. At least one of the scalps will have to be a bit higher in rank/position, such as Burke…so it doesn’t appear lower level line agents get all the blame,” Roman said.

Roman said retaining attorneys was an intelligent move for the two low-level agents.

“It’s smart for them to lawyer up while they’re on administrative leave. They obviously smell the stench of whatever is being cooked up against them. They’ve been isolated and virtually excommunicated, and I doubt the Secret Service HR department is of any help to them whatsoever,” Roman continued.

The Times noted that Perez has hired Larry Berger to represent her. Berger has represented targeted Secret Service agents in the past. Meanwhile, DuBrey hired Mark Zaid, an anti-Trump zealot.

Zaid has been described as an “advocate” for whistleblowers and worked on the first Trump impeachment. He has represented Facebook’s pro-censorship whistleblower Frances Haugen, the brother of Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferer Alexander Vindman, and numerous CIA agents who’ve claimed to have the unproven “Havana Syndrome.”

Zaid has also spread theories about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, once arguing against the possibility that Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald was an intelligence asset, despite Oswald’s deep connections and links to the CIA.

“At the same conference, Mark Zaid then went down to Dealey Plaza where some of the witnesses were arrayed, and handed out literature saying why they were not credible,” JFK researcher James DiEugenio said.

“And this is the guy demanding cred and calling the witness he never met ‘garbage.’ I guarantee you if this witness said, ‘I saw the files, and there is nothing in there incriminating the CIA,’ Zaid would have a grin on his face.”
