Washington Cops Scoop Up Stolen Ghost Gun in Late-Night Traffic Stop

Everett, WA — Deputies with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office recovered two illegal firearms after a traffic stop involving suspected gang members in unincorporated Everett.

The information was shared in a statement posted to the department’s Facebook page.

The incident began on Monday, June 9, when a graveyard-shift K9 deputy noticed a vehicle on 128th Street SW that appeared to be intentionally avoiding law enforcement.

The vehicle was occupied by several individuals known to deputies as gang members. A short time later, the occupants walked away from the vehicle and entered a nearby grocery store.

The deputy approached the abandoned vehicle and saw a firearm in plain view on the floorboard. The serial number showed the gun had been reported stolen out of Tacoma.

Deputies said the firearm had also been illegally modified to function as a fully automatic weapon.

The four individuals, identified as being 17, 18, 18, and 19 years old, were contacted nearby. All were under the legal age to possess pistols in Washington state. The vehicle was impounded while deputies applied for a search warrant.

On Sunday, June 15, deputies served the warrant and searched the vehicle. Inside, they recovered the stolen firearm and found a second weapon described as a "ghost gun."

According to the sheriff’s office, the second firearm had a 3D-printed frame and was equipped with an extended 30-round magazine.

"This is one example of the vigilance and proactive police work done by our graveyard deputies working around the clock to keep our community safe," the department said on Facebook.
