BRIGHTON, NY - A woman has been arrested on assault and attempted robbery charges following an incident at a Brighton salon.

The Brighton Police Department (BPD) announced the arrest of 27-year-old Haldena Forde on March 6. The arrest comes after an investigation into a February 29 customer trouble complaint from a local salon.

13WHAM reported that the incident began when Forde was “asked to pay for her remaining hair removal treatments.” Forde reportedly became angry and began assaulting a staff member and damaging a $44,000 piece of salon equipment.

Forde also allegedly attempted to steal a diamond earring by ripping it from the staff member’s ear, according to RochesterFirst.

The victim, an aesthetician at the salon, said that she required stitches in two places and suffered a black eye and swelling in the face from the incident.

BPD said that Forde has been charged with third degree assault, second degree criminal mischief, third degree attempted robbery, and fourth degree attempted grand larceny.

According to BPD, Forde was arraigned in Brighton Town Court and released to appear back in court at a later time. An order of protection for the victim was also issued.

Police have not released the name of the salon at this time.
