Alaska Man Who Snatched and Raped Helpless 14-Year-Old Girl Learns His Fate

ANCHORAGE, AK - On Thursday, July 3rd, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that it has sentenced a man to 50 years in federal prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenager.

In the press release, the DOJ said that 52-year-old David Anderson, would likely be spending the rest of his life in prison, Law & Crime reported. In October 2024, an Alaska superior court judge sentenced Anderson to 85 years in jail.

Court documents state that on November 2, 2022, a 14-year-old girl left a school bus and started walking home.

A dark vehicle driven by Anderson drove alongside the victim and coerced her into the vehicle before pointing a gun at her.

Anderson covered the girl's head with a blanket, punched her at least once in the face, and bound her hands with duct tape, federal prosecutors said.

Anderson then drove the victim to a remote area where he stopped the car and led the victim into the woods with the blanket still over her head.

Anderson proceeded to forcibly sexually assault the victim and afterwards, he shot her with his gun.

Without checking to see if the victim was dead or alive, he left her in the woods and drove away.

After leaving the woods, he disassembled the gun and threw the pieces into a nearby river. The victim was able to free herself from the restraints before walking out of the woods to flag down a passing vehicle.

Based off descriptions the victim provided, Anderson was arrested later that day by Alaska State Troopers.

The victim participated remotely in Anderson's federal sentencing hearing that ended this week.

Anderson, who was already a registered sex offender in 2022 after a conviction in 2000 for sexually assaulting a minor, was said to have been struggling with an addiction to methamphetamine before he kidnapped and sexually assaulted the 14-year-old victim.

He allegedly told investigators after being arrested that he had "let the monster out."

Authorities celebrated Anderson's sentencing, while also appearing unsettled by his "unimaginable crimes."

"Mr. Anderson perpetuated an unimaginable random act of horror and will spend the rest of his life in the only appropriate place, prison," U.S. Attorney Michael Heyman for the District of Alaska said in a statement. "The survivor showed extraordinary bravery in escaping this horror and the Alaska State Troopers and FBI mounted an incredible investigation to hold this predator accountable."

"While walking home from school, an innocent child was violently kidnapped and assaulted— not only was this a horrific attack on a child, but also on the very fabric of our community," said Special Agent in Charge Rebecca Day of the FBI Anchorage Field Office. "I commend this young survivor's extraordinary courage, along with the special agents, prosecutors, and law enforcement partners who worked tirelessly to ensure this dangerous predator will never walk free or harm another child again."
