His Daughter’s Death Put Him On The Front Lines. Now He’s Joining ICE

WASHINGTON, DC – The father of 20-year-old Katie Abraham, the young woman who died alongside her friend Chloe Polzin in a January 2025 fatal car crash caused by an intoxicated illegal immigrant, is reportedly taking on an official role within Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which aligns with his past activism following his daughter’s untimely death.

Earlier in August, White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis confirmed the appointment of Joe Abraham to serve as the executive director of Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE), an office within ICE initially established by President Donald Trump back in 2017 and later reestablished in April of 2025 after a brief dissolution under the Biden Administration.

“Angel Dad Joe Abraham is the perfect choice to lead the VOICE office. Since the murder of his daughter, Katie, in a drunk driving hit-and-run in sanctuary Illinois, he has been a staunch advocate for victims of illegal alien crime and a powerful critic of the Democrats’ sanctuary policies,” Bis stated.

As previously reported in Law Enforcement Today, Katie Abraham’s death at the hands of an illegal alien drunk behind the wheel in Urbana, Illinois, largely served as the inspiration behind Operation Midway Blitz, a targeted immigration enforcement operation across Illinois which reportedly netted in excess of 4,000 illegal aliens arrested.

In a statement regarding his new role with ICE, Joe Abraham said, “I am excited to accept the Executive Director role at VOICE because this is not simply a government position for me; it is deeply personal and rooted in a mission I have come to understand through unimaginable loss.”

Knowing all too well the costs stemming from unfettered illegal immigration and sanctuary jurisdictions, Joe Abraham says he intends to draw from his personal “experience” to give other grieving families and victims the “dignity” they’re deserving of.

“I want to use my experience, my voice and what I have learned through Katie’s story to make sure victims and their families are heard, treated with dignity and never become an afterthought in our immigration system,” Joe Abraham stated.
