Online Support Pours in for ICE Officer Facing Threats After Minneapolis Shooting

A GiveSendGo fundraiser in support of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer at the center of the Renee Good shooting has accumulated over $250K since its launch earlier in January. Another fundraiser established on GoFundMe for the ICE officer has already surpassed the half-a-million marker, but the ICE officer has not yet been officially tied to the GoFundMe campaign.

In the wake of the fatal shooting of anti-ICE activist Good in Minneapolis, efforts have been undertaken to support the officer at the center of the incident which has garnered national news coverage and innumerable threats from activists against the officer’s family and the agency overall.

A GiveSendGo campaign was created by social media influencer Tom Hennessy on January 8th in response to the legal threats made by state and local politicians against Officer Jonathan Ross, with the fundraiser being aptly dubbed “Stand With Our Brave ICE Hero.”

“In the frozen streets of Minneapolis, our fearless ICE agents were out doing the job the invaders and their enablers hate most: rounding up and deporting illegal aliens who have no right to be flooding our nation, draining resources, and threatening our sovereignty,” the fundraiser description reads in part.

The description of the fundraiser continues with the original incident details, noting, “Their vehicles got stuck in the snow during a high-stakes operation to purge these lawbreaking parasites from our soil, and as they worked to get moving, a radical leftist agitator weaponized her car - accelerating straight at our agents in a blatant act of domestic terrorism aimed at killing or maiming the men protecting our borders from the endless invasion.”

As of January 13th, the fundraiser just reached slightly over $250,000 in donations. GiveSendGo cofounder Jacob Wells issued a statement via X confirming that some of the funds have already been released to Officer Ross.

A second fundraiser that was established on GoFundMe has also eclipsed $620,000 but has attracted scrutiny due to the fundraiser not having been officially linked to Officer Ross as the listed beneficiary. Wells made mention of this aspect in his statement regarding funds being released to Officer Ross, saying, “Our competition hasn’t even been able to verify the account on their platform yet.”

The organizer of the GoFundMe campaign, Clyde Emmons, has addressed the aforementioned, saying he’s been in contact with Wells from GiveSendGo to help establish Officer Ross as the beneficiary, which Wells confirmed that Officer Ross has been informed of the GoFundMe campaign.
