DAYTON, OH – A 34-year-old man from Ohio was arrested earlier in February after authorities claim he admitted to a 911 dispatcher to fatally shooting his girlfriend over frustrations stemming from the victim’s alleged infidelity.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on February 10th, authorities say Jayme Rogers called 911 to report that he shot his girlfriend, 33-year-old Jaime Dick, following some sort of dispute regarding the victim allegedly being unfaithful to Rogers.
During the initial 911 call, Rogers also allegedly told the dispatcher that he was armed and wasn’t “going to go without a…fight,” also allegedly saying during the call that Dick had “got what she deserved.”
When Dayton Police arrived at the scene located along the 4700 block of Queens Avenue, authorities say Rogers approached responding officers and allegedly repeated that he’d shot Dick three times, with police finding the deceased victim inside her still-running vehicle parked outside her residence.
Investigators working the scene reportedly recovered bullet casings located on the street and adjacent sidewalk nearby to where Dick’s body was discovered, with the passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle having been shot out.
An obituary for Dick notes that she is survived by her parents, sibling, extended family and two children, describing the deceased victim as “a loving mom, a devoted daughter, and the very best sister a family could ever ask for.”
Rogers was taken into custody and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of murder, felonious assault, possessing weapons while under disability, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Bond for the defendant was set at $1 million, and Rogers’ next court appearance is scheduled for February 20th.
It’s unclear if Rogers is diagnosed with a specific disability, in light of the particular firearm charge he’s facing, as the relevant Ohio statue also refers to prohibited possessors such as convicted felons as falling under the “disability” category as relating to firearms possession.
