My name is Anthony Ashby. I’m writing to you not just as a brother, but as someone who watched the system destroy a decorated police officer and Navy war veteran—my brother, James “Adam” Ashby. He was convicted of murder not because he broke the law, but because he upheld it.
Adam, the recipient of the 2010 Colorado Police Officer of the Year - Distinguished Life Saver Award, was trained, committed, and courageous. But in 2014, during a justified use-of-force incident involving a suspect wielding a baseball bat, he became a casualty of a justice system desperate to appease an anti-police agenda—a wave that intensified after the events in Ferguson, Missouri.
He was sentenced to 16 years in prison and spent 10 years behind bars before recently being transferred to a halfway house. Even though he's no longer in a prison cell, he's still fighting for his name, his freedom, and the truth.
The courts twisted the law and rewrote the rules:
• They said he had no right to follow a fleeing suspect because the suspect was “no longer committing a crime.”
• They said Adam had a “duty to retreat” even when threatened with lethal force—something no officer is trained to do.
• They stripped him of his legal protections as an officer and instructed the jury as if he were a private citizen.
• They used hindsight to judge his split-second decisions, suggesting a “reasonable officer” should assume a suspect reaching into a bag is doing so innocently.
• And worst of all, they ignored newly discovered evidence that reveals possible perjury and prosecutorial misconduct.
Adam was made an example of—not because he did wrong, but because the media and political climate needed a villain in uniform.
To our law enforcement family: if it happened to Adam, it could happen to any of you. We’re fighting to clear his name, and we need your voice, your strength, and your support. This isn’t just Adam’s story. It’s the story of every officer sworn to protect and serve, only to
be betrayed when they needed protection the most. Please reach out to us. Review the evidence. Share Adam’s story. Help us bring justice to a man who never should’ve lost his freedom.
If you feel lead, please check out the established GoFundMe for Adam.
With gratitude and resolve,
Anthony Ashby

As soon as I saw "Colorado" I knew all I needed to know. It has become the dumping ground for California's leftists who shat the bed and now look for another place to do the same.
