Far-left school board member asks "How much God do you need?" over motion to include invocation in board agendas

CABARRUS COUNTY, NC- An unhinged school board member on the Cabarrus County School Board doesn’t believe that God belongs in school board meetings, with the left again taking the “separation of church and state” to an absurd level.

At a recent school board meeting, Melanie Freeman, a newcomer, suggested starting meetings with an invocation. Freeman ran on a platform declaring her faith in God and saying she wanted to reinstate the pre-meeting prayer, Todd Starnes reported.

“I know there would be resistance because any time you put back something that somebody has taken out, the struggle is much harder,” she said.

Far-left board member Pam Escobar is having none of it.

“How much prayer do you need?” she railed. “How much God do you need?”

Law Enforcement Today would say as much as you can get. Perhaps Ms. Escobar feels she doesn’t need God in her life. However, some use God and their faith as a guiding presence. In making decisions that affect school children, perhaps Ms. Freeman feels that in the process of creating what could be life-changing decisions, she relies on God’s grace to guide her.

The good thing about prayer is that it is a personal discussion between you and God. If something heard during an invocation inspires someone to decide an issue in a particular way, God is speaking to them and guiding them. If Ms. Escobar feels she doesn’t need prayer, she can block out the invocation. It’s simple. However, Escobar feels she needs to impose her atheistic viewpoint on the rest of the board.

“They didn’t come here to pray with you,” Escobar raged, referring to school employees. “If you want to pray with them, take them to church. You want to be evangelical and do that? Go for it. But not on my time, not on their time, and not on this community’s time. We’re not in this business. This is not the time or the place. I don’t know why you need prayer to take this job seriously.”

Freeman’s motion passed overwhelmingly, with Escobar angrily yelling “No!” when the final vote was tallied.

Freeman said she has no regrets about asking the invocation to be restored to meetings.

“I am not a young chicken, and so I don’t have a lot of time to mess around, and to be quite honest, our children have been waiting a long time for somebody to get in here and care about where the trends in our education are going,” she said.

Freeman is correct. Long time to wait. As to "Escobar feels she needs to impose her atheistic viewpoint on the rest of the board." this is what has happened at least since the SCOTUS ruling in 1962. So, taking God out of our public skrulls, how has that worked out? Compare the public school system from a century ago (or even since the last mid-century) with now. I'll gladly take the old one!

They have created a school to prison system, cradle to grave .... They want good, compliant, disposable, subjects ........

James

All of these "separation of church and state" idiots don't even know why that is part of the US Constitution! Separation of Church and State was put there to keep the GOVERNMENT from infringing on our Freedom of Religion right! Our founders did not want the GOVERNMENT controlling religion like it did/does in England! The founders knew and approved of God in our educational system! This has been a deliberate illusion by the Godless to rob us of our Freedom of Religion right! Any lawyer (who can read) knows this if he/she/it went to law school! The big illusion started with the lady (atheist) who wanted prayer removed from schools she because SHE did not believe in God! This needs to be fixed!!!

James

GOD should be a large part of ALL of our lives .... THIS country is in the toilet because of people like this Godless woman .........

Rick

This councilwoman obviously needs a LOT more God!
