Fifth generation rancher says cartels are purposely overwhelming CBP agents as a diversionary tactic

LUKEVILLE, AZ - The US-Mexico border continues to see an influx of migrants illegally crossing the border and one fifth-generation rancher in Arizona fears that cartels purposely flood certain areas with migrants to lure Border Patrol agents away from others, thereby creating openings to smuggle in terrorists and deadly drugs.

FOX News reported that on Monday, December 4th, some of their reporters witnessed hundreds of single male migrants camped out along the border wall and the following day, Tuesday, December 5th, saw many of them rush through gaps into the United States.

This happened after the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) was forced to divert resources from the area to address skyrocketing illegal migrant crossings at other areas on the southern border, causing it to close the Lukeville port of entry on December 4th.

Jim Chilton, who owns Chilton Ranch which sits along the southern border, said, "I think it's a diversionary tactic that the cartels have. The cartel directs [migrants] to where they should go and one of the reasons the cartel switches locations is to cause Border Patrol to have to go to those locations and process people."

He added, "It's a method of controlling where everybody goes. It's a method for opening up other rotes for crossing really bad guys, drug packers. The cartel is running drugs and bad people across other areas." He said, "It is a very serious issue. How many terrorists are coming through? How many pounds of drugs are coming through in these areas while Border Partrol's diverted?"

On Tuesday, December 4th, there were over 12,000 migrant encounters at the southern border. That number broke the previous daily record and according to CBP, the vast majority were caught illegally crossing the border between ports of entry.

According to Tucson's Chief Border Patrol Agent John Modlin, their section, which includes Lukeville, has faced a massive surge in illegal border crossings, with 18,900 migrant apprehensions just within the first week of December. CBP data indicates that by comparison, that is nearly 2,000 more encounters than all of December 2021 for that sector.

CBP data also shows that for fiscal year 2023, 169 people on the FBI terror watch list were encountered between ports of entry at the southern border. That number not only exceeds the previous year's record-setting 98 encounters, but the last six fiscal years combined.

Chilton said, "I am really concerned about the terrorist issue. I've been predicting that this is a national security issue. What would terrorists do if we had several hundred, several thousand, in this country?"

He mentioned how quickly Hamas invaded Israel and brutally murdered over 1,000 civilians in their October 7th ambush. He also cited how it only took 19 terrorists hijackers to kill nearly 3,000 people and injure another several thousands more on the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Drug seizures fell between 2022 and 2023, but fentanyl is still pouring into the country. Nearly 27,000 pounds of fentanyl were seized  along the southern border in fiscal year 2023, which is an 89 percent increase from 2022. Chilton said that he believes drug cartels are sending "drugs to poison our people." He added, "The cartel is becoming filthy rich, transporting people and drugs into our country."

CRAIG

Time to arm the drones AND use them. This IS NOT migration, this IS an invasion and should be treated as such.
