Reporting from 12News revealed that a 911 call came in from Collier's son within ten minutes of the woman's remains being discovered on October 30th. The young man claimed that his mother was kidnapped according to the dispatchers.
Lt. Ross Teeple of the Pinal County Sheriff's Officer told the outlet that investigators allege Collier's son walked with her to the field where he attacked and killed her after an argument.
“We don’t have any evidence to show that there was an actual kidnapping," Teeple explained. "It indicates they walked out together both of consent and then once out there she was attacked and then just left in the desert.” Collier was found to have died of blunt forced trauma with a sharp object Teeple said. He added that there was a domestic disturbance between the mother and son on Tuesday night.
At the scene where the body was discovered, the jogger, identified as James Richey, told police that first he thought the remains were a prank until he saw a large knife nearby covered in blood and realized he was looking at a crime scene. "That's when it, like, instantly clicked, like, this is a crime scene," Richey told 12News.“I just don't know how someone could be so mad and angry that their first thought is to go and just like, kill somebody, let alone your mother,” Richey added.
Collier's son was hospitalized following his arrest. His condition at the time of reporting was unknown but presumed stable, given that police stated he would be booked upon discharge from the hospital.Tonight, we're learning more about the mother of four Pinal County Sheriff's Office deputies say was killed by her 18-year-old son who then left her body in a field yesterday morning.
