"The system failed us": A dad killed his daughter's kidnapper and rapist. Now he's running for sheriff.

LONOKE COUNTY, AR- For those who have daughters, they can likely relate to Aaron Spencer, an Arkansas father accused of killing his 14-year-old daughter’s rapist. Earlier this year, Law Enforcement Today told the story of Spencer gunning down Michael Fosler, who had been charged in 2024 with 43 counts, including sexual assault of a minor and internet stalking of a child.

Now, Spencer, believing the legal system “failed” him by charging him with the murder of dirtbag Fosler, has decided he is going to run for sheriff in Lonoke County, The New York Post reports, announcing his run in a Facebook video.

“Through my own fight for justice, I have seen firsthand the failures in law enforcement and in our circuit court. And I refuse to stand by while others face these same failures,” he said. Spencer is running to restore trust in law enforcement.

“This campaign isn’t about me; it’s about every parent, every neighbor, every family who deserves to feel safe in their homes and in their community. It’s about restoring trust, where neighbors know law enforcement is on their side and families know they will not be left alone in a moment of need,” he said.

Spencer, described by his attorney as “a decorated war hero,” was charged with second-degree murder after allegedly putting Fosler down like the rabid dog he was, according to court documents. Fosler “kidnapped her in the dark of night to continue his assaults on her,” Spencer’s attorneys added.

A fundraising campaign to assist Spencer with legal expenses was set up by his sister-in-law, Juanita Musto, and his wife, Heather, through GiveSendGo.

She said her daughter had been “targeted, groomed, and ultimately raped by the boyfriend of a family friend,” Heather said.

“We let the justice system do its job. The monster who hurt our child was charged quickly, but was released even faster on a $50k bond. He was awaiting court in December for several felonies in relation to what he did to our child,” she added.

Heather called the charges against Aaron “outrageous,” calling him a “hero.” She said their daughter “would not have come home if my husband hadn’t found her.”

Aaron Spencer’s next court date is scheduled for Dec. 16 for pre-trial proceedings, with a Jan 26, 2026 date set for the commencement of his trial.

Spencer’s campaign announcement was met with support, including from his son Malachi, who wrote, “Proud to call this man my father!”

Another supporter added, “If I could vote for you a million times, I would.”

This man caught the scumbag with his daughter and ended up shooting him in a fight for his daughter. The scumbag deserved what he got, and the father shouldn't be charged. He was literally protecting the life of his child from a man who had KIDNAPPED and RAPED her.

I’ll stand with this Dads actions 100%. Take it for what it is that criminal got justice! I blame the system and corrupt Judges that release scumbags to commit more assaults on innocent young women! Why are judges never held accountable when they keeping releasing perverts to commit more rapes and murders? The public hears justice must be served yet the courts constantly release criminals to commit more crimes and attacks on women. The judges are above the law and must be held accountable! I hope the same judge don’t hear the dads case!

It should be obvious that this hero "took out the trash" and did what Law Enforcement couldn't. While I don't endorse vigilantism, this man should be elected Sheriff.

Amen!

Two things I've always said and stand by to this day: 1. If they ever tell you I killed myself, start a thorough investigation because I've been murdered. 2. If they ever tell you I killed someone, ask what they did to my wife, children or grandchildren... you could probably extend #2 to family and/or friends.

Rick

I would vote for him!

I commend this father for being there for his daughter when she needed him most. I also hope that he is elected sheriff to help rectify the problems this area is obviously facing. The prosecutor in his case should be ashamed of himself/herself for pressing charges in the first place.
