On January 4, two days shy of the third anniversary of the January 6th Capitol incident, Democrat incumbent President Joe Biden released a campaign ad eerily reminiscent of his previously made "Red Speech." In the ad, he implicated the 75+ million Americans who voted for former President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election and all of his supporters today as "an extremist movement that does not share the basic beliefs of our Democracy."
Biden's full voice-over from the minute-long ad fails to improve the sentiment conveyed, which is decidedly divisive. He begins the ad by saying, "I've made the preservation of American democracy a central issue of my campaign. And have the right to vote fairly and have your vote counted," potentially alluding to Republican-led efforts in over a dozen states to address the serious electoral process flaws exposed by the 2020 election.
His rhetoric then takes a very hostile, targeted turn: "There's something dangerous happening in America. There's an extremism movement that does not share the basic beliefs of our democracy."
He then asks, "All of us are being asked right now, what will we do to maintain our democracy?" The line suggests a call to action, but the action suggested is unspecified.
"History's watching," the ad continues. "The world is watching. Most important, our children and grandchildren will hold us responsible. The vice president and I have supported voting rights since day one of this administration and I ask every American to join me in this cause. America's still a place of possibilities, where the power resides with 'We the people.'"
According to The Guardian, the advertisement is running nationally and will be pushed in the local markets of swing states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The Associate Press reported that the campaign is spending $500,000 to run the 60-second ad.
In a press release, Biden-Harris campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, said the quiet part quite out loud, claiming the ad spot specifically highlights the efforts of Trump and his followers to allegedly undermine elections.
She claimed in the release, "Over the last three years, Maga Republicans haven’t shied away from the Big Lie – they’ve doubled down. This ad serves as a very real reminder that this election could very well determine the very fate of American democracy."
In a call with reporters this week per AP, Chavez Rodriguez unironically suggested that January 6th was somehow on the same level as the Civil War, saying, "Not even during the Civil War did insurrectionists breach our Capitol. But, at the urging of Donald Trump, insurrectionists on January 6, 2021 did."
The AP spoke with Daniel Ziblatt, a government professor at Harvard University and co-author of the book “How Democracies Die,” and noted a quote from Trump advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles when they said “Joe Biden and his allies are a real and compelling threat to our democracy.”
Ziblatt warned, "When each side starts talking about the other as a threat to democracy — whatever the reality is — that’s a sign of a democracy that’s deconsolidating."

I find it interesting how Democrats sell their party! based on this article "Biden's full voice-over from the minute-long ad fails to improve the sentiment conveyed! ulie Chavez Rodriguez, said the quiet part quite out loud, claiming the ad spot specifically highlights the efforts of Trump and his followers to allegedly undermine elections. She claimed in the release, "Over the last three years, Maga Republicans haven’t shied away from the Big Lie – Yet the Democrats won't have voter I.D's in America. That should tell the story that the Democrats want easy access to lie about their caring about unsecured votes. My question! Why did they stop counting votes in some states in the middle of the night? My answer is they cheated. No one but Democrats were left counting. They cheated, very sneakily by themselves. Democrats have a long habit of skewing the words of truth! Republicans don't have the big liberal ultra rich money that the D's have. I am afraid for the loss of the American way. These are not the true principals of America. We are being led by traitors to the American way of life. Protect yourself. Learn to speak Chinese. Trump may be different as an American, but you can count on this; Trump loves America. Joe Biden and the D's are in this race for themselves, not for the true citizens of America or they wouldn't be spending billions of tax dollars abrogating voter I.D.'s and unvetted citizenship to illegals!
