According to a recent report from the New York Post, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed a disturbing and surreal incident involving an illegal migrant who reportedly attempted to eat his own arms during a deportation flight.
Noem described the situation during a press conference Tuesday at the new “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center in the Florida Everglades, where she stood alongside President Donald Trump.
Sharing the account from U.S. Marshals working with ICE, Noem said, “They had detained a cannibal and put him on a plane to take him home. While in his seat, he started to eat himself. They had to get him off the flight and into medical care.”
Noem used the story to push back against critics who claim the administration is unfairly targeting harmless immigrants.
Instead, she said, federal officers are focusing on removing the most dangerous individuals from U.S. streets.
“These are the kind of deranged individuals that are on our streets in America,” Noem said. “They don’t belong here.”
Though the Department of Homeland Security has not yet confirmed details of the specific case, the message was clear: the administration is taking a hard line on illegal immigration, especially with individuals considered a threat to public safety.
The bizarre episode comes amid a broader crackdown spearheaded by the Trump administration and supported by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Florida’s new detention center, dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz,” is located in the middle of the Everglades, surrounded by swampland, alligators, and snakes.
Built in just over a week on a 39-square-mile plot, the facility is expected to house up to 5,000 detainees.
The state is using natural barriers as perimeter security, eliminating the need for expensive fencing or walls. “Mother Nature does a lot on the perimeter,” said Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier.
The administration is also encouraging illegal migrants to self-deport voluntarily in exchange for a chance at legal entry later.
“If you don’t [self-deport], you may end up here,” Noem warned. “And you may end up here and being processed, deported out of this country, and never get the chance to come back.”
DeSantis added, “Why would you want to come through Alligator Alcatraz if you can just go home on your own?”
These latest revelations are part of a growing number of shocking incidents tied to the administration’s deportation efforts.
In a recent Law Enforcement Today exclusive, a Venezuelan illegal migrant, Tony Lopez-Infante, allegedly struck a young man, Zach Carach, with his vehicle in Nashville, leaving the 21-year-old critically injured.
The suspect was already under a final order of removal but had not been deported. He remains at large.
Zach’s mother, a former police officer, begged God to save her son as he lay unconscious on the street. “I’m fighting with everything I have for justice,” she said. “That Zach’s suffering is not ignored or forgotten.”
The case has sparked public outrage and intensified scrutiny over sanctuary policies and weak enforcement of immigration law.
Similar tragedies have unfolded across the country in recent months, including sex trafficking rings and child rape cases involving illegal immigrants, further fueling support for the Trump administration’s aggressive border policies.
“Alligator Alcatraz” may seem extreme to some, but for those who have lived through the violence and loss brought by unchecked illegal migration, it’s a long-overdue step in the right direction.
As Uthmeier put it, “We don’t need more brick and mortar. We need resolve.”
