Blue Lives Matter Community Comes Together to Ask for Prayers and Support for Nola

JACKSON COUNTY, IN - The family of a 15-year-old girl out of Jackson County, Indiana, is seeking prayers and support as their teenage girl undergoes surgery to remove a large mass located in a highly sensitive area of her brain. While the family remains optimistic regarding the young girl’s medical journey, navigating the financial hurdles associated with her treatment won’t be easy.

At just 15, Nola and her family received some difficult news: doctors discovered a large mass on her brain during medical testing. According to a GiveSendGo established to help the young girl’s family during this tumultuous time, Nola was taken to Riley Hospital for Children where she underwent additional testing so medical professionals could get a better understanding of her condition.

“This news has completely shaken her family, especially because Nola has continued living life as a normal 15-year-old girl without major symptoms affecting her daily life,” the fundraiser reads in part, further noting, “Nola is kind, strong, and loved by so many. Anyone who knows Nola knows her bright smile and sweet spirit.”

Medical professionals have yet to determine a diagnosis regarding the discovered mass, with the young girl’s family sharing that surgery will be needed to remove as much of the mass as possible while also getting a better read on the cause of the mass.

Nola’s family provided an update on her treatment on July 3, where after receiving an MRI, doctors said Nola was okay to go home and even travel before undergoing surgery later in July.

“After today’s MRI and additional testing, the doctors feel comfortable sending Nola home today. She is even cleared to go on the family beach trip on the 18th, which feels like such a gift and blessing. At this point, surgery is planned for the end of July after they return,” the update from the family reads in part.

The girl’s family is seeking donations to help offset medical expenses, travel to and from Indianapolis, lodging costs, as well as helping address the lost wages they’ve incurred while sticking by Nola’s side during her medical journey. Nola’s family is also asking supporters to pray for wisdom and guidance for Nola’s medical team, strength and courage for the young girl, peace and comfort for the family and that Nola’s surgery and recovery are successful.
