How A Radio Show Call Led Police to a Body in the Woods

FREDERICK, MD - Thanks to a radio host, police found a body after a tip came through on the "Elliot in the Morning" radio show. The caller described seeing a dead body weeks earlier and after searching the area, police found someone dead.

A man who called himself Joseph called in to "Elliot in the Morning" on DC101 on Friday, November 21 and began talking about being out "exploring nature," NBC4 reported. "Look what I came upon," the caller said on audio the show provided. "Dude, you found a dead body?" the host asks.

"It was amazing," the caller told the host. "This may sound sick, but I've always wanted to come upon something like that and luckily it was months old, so that was nice," the man reportedly said according to the Washington Post. "Tell me you called the police," the host said.

"Probably today," the caller said. "I had a dream last night that I called them, so, no, not yet." The host responded: "Dude, call the cops!" The radio caller said he saw the body in a "tent city" in Frederick, Maryland and it remained there "as of, whatever, 18 days ago."

Later in the day on Friday, the Frederick Police Department saw they were aware of information shared on a radio show about someone found dead in a wooded area off East Street and Carroll Creek Crossing.

Detectives responded to the area and found a dead body. An investigation is now underway. Police are encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact the Frederick Police Department.

Department spokeswoman Samantha Long clarified that the body had been found "in a wooded area near the roundabout" at Monocacy Boulevard and East Street, not far from Interstate 70. Long said the investigation into the grim discovery was ongoing and that police had not yet identified the remains or the cause or manner of death.

"We're aware of the speculation surrounding this case, including comments made on ['Elliot in the Morning']," she said. "Detectives are pursuing all relevant information as part of the investigation." Long confirmed that there have been no arrests related to the incident.
