BOSTON, MA - Tania Fernandes Anderson, Boston's first Muslim City Councilor, representing District 7, is facing increasing scrutiny over several controversial actions since taking office in January 2022.

Known for her outspoken and provocative style, Anderson's tenure has been marked by several incidents that have raised concerns among her colleagues and the public.

Upon taking office, Anderson had to redo her oath after it was discovered she refused to swear allegiance to the United States and commit to performing her duties with impartiality. This incident was just the beginning of a series of controversial actions and behaviors that have defined her term.

In July 2023, Anderson admitted to violating conflict of interest laws by hiring her sister and son for paid positions on her staff. She had appointed her sister as Director of Constituent Services with a salary that eventually rose to $70,000 plus a $7,000 bonus.

Her son was hired as an office manager with a starting salary of $52,000, which was quickly increased to $70,000. These actions led to a $5,000 civil penalty and further damaged her reputation.

Anderson has become notorious for her public outbursts during city council meetings, where she has frequently been reported yelling, swearing, and making inflammatory statements. She has been accused of creating an "unhealthy" and "intimidating" work environment.

An anonymous city hall employee described her as a "troubled person" who manipulates colleagues by accusing them of racism to force compliance with her demands.

Throughout her term, Anderson has advocated for significant social changes, including calls to "dismantle the White backdrop" in America and create a revolution. Her rhetoric has often included strong language and threats, which some perceive as attempts to intimidate and control the council.

During a March 2024 meeting, she warned her colleagues, "Don't come for me, because if you want smoke, you'll get smoke." Anderson's comments on the conflict between Israel and Hamas have also drawn criticism.

After the October 7 Hamas attacks, she referred to the violence as a "military operation" and criticized Israel's military response. Her statements, seen as supportive of Hamas, have been described as antisemitic by some colleagues and have further fueled tensions within the council.

Public reaction to Anderson's behavior has been overwhelmingly negative. Videos of her outbursts and inflammatory comments have resurfaced online, prompting outrage. Critics have labeled her actions as unprofessional and divisive, with many calling for her removal from office.

Anderson's frequent absences from city council meetings have also been noted, raising questions about her commitment to her duties.

“People are intimidated by her. And that intimidation does work,” a source said. The source continued, stating, that some members would give into her because “no one want[s] to disagree with Tania because she’s unpredictable.”

So why is he still in office and has not been removed? How embarrassing she is in office and nothing is done because of her actions. She is challenging you and you are a ll cowards for not taking action. She is a disgrace and since she would not commit to swearing of allegiance to the United States is the first sign and you should of stopped the swearing in ceremony. Try that in there country you would have been beheaded. She supports terrorisms. She has violated many laws, you take it. When are you as council members and other government officials going to change things?

Dennis

Just get rid of that bitch!
