'We have to be heard': Brooklyn residents fed up with illegal immigrant mega-shelter openly protesting

BROOKLYN, NY - In the overwhelmingly Democrat-voting area of the New York borough of Brooklyn, residents, fed up with the dramatic increase in illegal-immigrant-driven violent crime took to the streets in protest over the weekend.

The neighborhood, known as Clinton Hill, once considered one of the more peaceful and fashionable parts of Brooklyn, has found itself beset by violent crime, increasing violence and civil upheaval as the city moves to establish a mega-shelter to house thousands of illegal immigrants, against the will of the residents.

According to Fox News, Renee Collymore, a Democrat community organizer with the protest, told the outlet, "We have to be heard. Enough is enough. It’s not about anti-migrants. It’s about safety first."

Fox reported that the complex located in Clinton Hill is "a major emergency migrant shelter setup, comprising several industrial warehouses." The complex, constructed in 2023 to handle the massive influx of illegal immigrants under the Biden Administration, houses approximately 4,000 foreign nationals.

One resident told reporters, "Now it feels like that whole section is just not available to the community anymore. Our parks are not available anymore. You can't go there. You can't go to the parks."

Another, speaking to ABC7, said, "We've been pleading with the mayor as we've seen increased violence, that this was inevitable."

As previously reported by Law Enforcement Today, protests in the area have been escalating with a senior NYPD official allegedly bitten by a City Councilwoman last week.

Violent crimes and murders have been increasing for months with three illegal immigrants shot, one of them fatally, just days ago, and a Venezuelan gang running guns into the shelters revealed in late June.

City Councilmember Crystal Hudson reportedly sent a letter to Mayor Eric Adams outright pleading with City Hall for additional funding and law enforcement assistance to deal with the overwhelming flood of illegal immigrant violence. 

"[T]he reality is that an influx in the population requires an increase in the resources our communities need… My office and my neighbors have been asking for your assistance for the better part of a year to no avail," she said per Fox News. 

Speaking of the illegal immigrant criminals, Adams told reporters, "They're extremely dangerous. We're dealing with violent individuals that are not representative of the overwhelming number of people who are coming here as migrant asylum seekers."
