SACRAMENTO, CA- “No Kings,” right? The rabid, radical left has engaged in a series of protests against policies of the Trump administration while claiming he is acting like a king, oblivious to the fact that, were Trump, in fact, a king, these unhinged moonbats would be rounded up and locked up…if they were lucky.
Instead, let’s examine at least one proposed law in California that would significantly impact the First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
AB 2624, Privacy for immigration support services providers, was written by Rep. Mia Bonta, who just so happens to be the wife of California Attorney General Rob Bonta. Under the bill, it would “establish an address confidentiality program for a designated immigration support services provider, employee, or volunteer, as defined, who faces threats of violence or harassment from the public because of their affiliation with a designated immigration support services facility.”
Such as a “Learing Center”, such as independent journalist Nick Shirley found in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In other words, the location of fraudulent day care centers, medicare support offices, hospice providers, etc., would be confidential.
It gets much worse and much more of an infringement on First Amendment protections. The bill continues:
“The bill would additionally prohibit a person, business, or association from soliciting, selling, or trading on the internet the personal information or image of a designated immigration support services provider, employee, or volunteer with the intent described above. The bill would also prohibit a person from posting on the internet, as described above, the personal information or image of a designated immigration support services provider, employee, or volunteer, or other individuals residing at the same home address.”
California Assemblyman Carl DeMaio cut to the chase–he is calling AB2624 the “Stop Nick Shirley Act.”
The timing of Bonta’s bill is very suspicious, to say the least. Shirley has been one of the lead independent journalists exposing fraud and abuse in cities across the country by using on-the-ground footage and firsthand documentation, DeMaio said.
Shirley, a 20-something non-professional journalist, has been able to find fraud in daycare centers, so-called “healthcare agencies,” and “hospice providers,” with the fraud totaling hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer money.
For his efforts, Shirley has been mocked by Democrats, including greasy Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA). All because he found the unmitigated fraud being perpetrated upon the American people by fraudsters, many of whom are illegal aliens.
And as we know, Democrats put illegal aliens before American citizens no matter what fraud they’re engaged in. This proposed bill seems to be a direct shot at journalists like Shirley.
In a press release, DeMaio’s office wrote:
“AB2624 claims to be about protecting immigrant organizations from ‘threats of violence,’ when in fact the legislation would apply to any left-wing group that claims to provide any services to legal or illegal immigrants. For example, under AB2624, entities like the Somali ‘Learing’ Daycare centers would all be covered if they operated inside California.”
“During a recent Assembly committee hearing, DeMai directly confronted the bill’s author, Mia Bonta, over language that would allow individuals affiliated with certain organizations to demand the removal of video recordings–even if taken in public–and even impose costly financial penalties against those who publish the videos online.
“DeMaio warned the bill would be used to block investigative reporting and intimidate journalists, watchdog groups, and members of the public documenting wrongdoing.”
DeMaio accused Democrats of “trying to shut down the people exposing” fraud problems.
“That’s not about public safety–it’s about protecting powerful interests.”
In a post on X sharing DeMaio’s statement, Shirley took the California Democrats to task.
“The enemy truly is within. When our politicians would rather protect fraudsters and illegal migrants, it’s time for us to stand up or face mass oppression from the traitors who ‘rule’ over us.”
Shirley is not dissuaded from exposing fraud in California, noting that while he considered exposing it in another state, “I think I will now go back to California. New expose coming soon.”
“No Kings?” Remember, when the left accuses you of doing something, they’re likely doing it themselves.
Kings are only cool if they’re someone like Biden carrying water for the crazy left. Or California Democrats who are blatantly violating the First Amendment to protect illegal aliens and other fraudsters.
